Well, once you’ve visited this magical place, you definitely have, so go check it out while you're camping at Sangchris Lake Campground.Any Rochester campers who want to experience even more deep forests and serene nature need to drive their rental RV to the amazing Gurgens Park, just north of Springfield. Here you can hike, hike, and do some more hiking before you try out the mountain bike trails, which are both single and double track. While you’re out stretching your legs, you’ll be able to see the beautiful landscape of prairie and flood plains that have recovered excellently since their days as farmed land. Stock up on snacks and have a lovely, long picnic in this fantastic park.

Exploring the Area

Anyone renting a motorhome near Sangchris Lake Campground who also happens to be a history buff has struck the motherlode, being so close to Rochester. The village has done a lot to preserve its history and make sure that generations to come can take part in the stories of the former inhabitants. There are also events such as Movies in the Park in this charming village.Equally charming but significantly larger Springfield is next up for some exploration. You could probably spend a week in the city without having visited every place and establishment that has connections to Abraham Lincoln, but you can at least try to see the library and his former home. If you want some more action, rent an RV in Springfield, IL in September so you won’t miss Route 66 Mother Road Festival. This fantastic event has cars, live music, and entertainment for the whole family, and so does the Illinois State Fair.
