Lulu2 - Silver Honda Element with eCamper

Carl picked us up at airport earlier than check-in time. He took time to explain how to operate car, go over camping, snorkeling, checklists, make sure we have all we need. The camping package includes all items we need to camp for 4 days. Honda Element is AWD, great for road to Hana. We had a great time camp right on the beach.

Car was clean. Items in car were clean. Black duct tape on passenger side frame.

Chris was great to work with. Quick responses and easy pick up and drop off.

The reason for 3/5 stars was cheap linens/no blanket/missing items.

The top and bottom sheets were cheap polyester (which don't breath and get sticky) and NO BLANKET. It says "linens" were supplied, I rented this thinking it would came with all bedding needed...there was no blanket. Although the pillows/sheets seemed new. I didn't get the sleeping bags because I didn't plan on sleeping at the summit.

Chris added in the kitchen package, which was kind, however, there were no plates or utensils. Which was a surprise when it came to breakfast the first day.

We did get the beach package which was nice, however, there were 2 snorkel sets, not one, like the details said.

Had I known what I know now, I would have packed my own linens (including a full/queen size blanket) and my left 1 snorkel set at home. When it comes to camping, I can rough it, but I like to sleep in comfort. I highly recommend bringing your own linens if Chris doesn't upgrade.

*side note--you have to unmake the bed to get out in the middle of the night and use the bathroom. So if you're a frequent night bathroom user, you might want to look at other camper options. =)

Thanks for the easy booking for the insurance coverage & camp package. Minor hiccups but it was still a nice service and the price was unexpected, it was great. Thanks, Shawn

If you are looking for a camp car for 2, I believe the LuLu2 is the perfect vehicle. It is not as range limited and old as the older VW vans you'll find on the island and it's much more convenient than the jeeps that have pole tents on top. Carl is also great to work with from pre-trip communication, to equipment changes, to on-island engagement and hosting. Was also out the door at the airport much faster than anyone trying to rent a car or catch a shuttle.

Carl was great, super-helpful and responsive...he and his wife became almost our guide to the island. They were always willing to help...the "LULU" was just as advertised, very clean, handled well, and the sleeping arrangements pretty nifty... Some of the driving (roads) on the island are a bit challenging (although not dangerous) and it was nice to have the 4-wheel feature, if necessary. We found the best camping spot for us to be at Olowalu. They allow car camping and have great showers and other facilities. We were a bit nervous to just pull over and sleep in a lot or beach, but you probably could in more remote areas. We also found that they do not allow car camping at Waianapanapa St Park (on the road to Hana), so if you plan to camp there at the Black Sand Beach, bring along a tent.
