Not only is it an RV-friendly campground, but it’s also centrally located near some of the area’s best off-the-beaten-path attractions. The majority of the RV sites at Pomona Campground offer water and electrical hookups, but a few have full hookups if that’s what you need for your RV rental. You’ll also have access to clean toilets and showers when camping at Pomona Campground. In addition to these well-equipped and well-shaded sites, the campground has dozens of fun activities to participate in with a disc golf course, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoe pits, a playground for smaller children, and a great swimming beach. There’s no excuse for not spending time outside when you get a campervan rental to use at Pomona Campground.

The Great Outdoors

Pomona Lake will definitely be the star attraction when you’re RV camping in the area. Pomona State Park is popular with swimmers, anglers, and watersports enthusiasts alike, as the 490-acre lake has room for all sorts of outdoor fun. There are also a few hiking trails to wander around on, all of them fairly short and flat, perfect for a morning stroll or a quick jog.If you’re looking for something with a bit more of an adrenaline rush, look no further than the skydiving school just outside the nearby town of Osage City. If flying up to 10,000 feet and jumping out of a perfectly good airplane sounds like a fun time to you, you’re going to love getting an RV rental near Pomona Campground. Still want to see Kansas from the sky but don’t like the idea of descending in a parachute? You could take a hot air balloon ride with one of the companies operating outside Kansas City or Topeka; it’ll be a much more peaceful descent. You might also consider renting a bike in nearby Ottawa and taking a ride down the Flint Hills Nature Trail, which cuts a path 117 miles long, from Osawatomie to Herington. The Missouri Pacific Railroad used to run through the plains of central Kansas, but was abandoned in the 1980s and converted into a rail trail in the 1990s. It’s far too long to ride in a single day, not to mention the need to backtrack or shuttle to your vehicle, but the 30-mile round trip ride from Quenemo to Ottawa might be the perfect day trip.

Exploring the City

Vasser is the closest town when you're RV camping at Pomona Campground, but since it only has a handful of houses and few businesses, you’ll need to drive over to Ottawa or Baldwin City when you want to participate in non-lakeside activities. Ottawa sits on the banks of the Marais Des Cygnes River and has a beautiful historic downtown area, populated with colorful shops selling everything from natural foods to rare books to quirky antiques. If you need to fuel up your RV rental or empty the tanks, there’s a truck stop on the south side of town too.If you’re in need of arts and entertainment when you book an RV in Osage County, there’s the Carnegie Cultural Center in Ottawa. It contains some great works from local artists and has new exhibits every month. For mainstream film screenings, there’s the Plaza Cinemagic Experience. Despite the unique name, it’s actually just the town movie theater, but it’s also one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the country. Then there’s Baldwin City, a railroad town that’s also home to Baker University, Kansas’s oldest four-year college. Most visitors to Baldwin City come for its Maple Festival in October of each year, where residents celebrate with arts and crafts, a parade, live music, and, of course, train rides. One of Baldwin City’s other major attractions is the Midland Railway, which has a length of just 11 miles, extending down to Ottawa. Tourists can ride the train and learn about Kansas’s railroading history, and several themed trains run on holidays like Memorial Day and Halloween. This charming railroad town is definitely worth a visit when you rent an RV near Pomona State Park.

It doesn't get more convenient than having your own bathroom on the road. Let's talk about the 3 main types of toilets you may encounter in an RV rental.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
