AWD SKI VAN! Blue Sky Campervans

TDLR: RENT THIS VAN. SERIOUSLY. STOP CONSIDERING IT. JUST DO IT.

I cannot even begin to properly and adequately explain how much I'd recommend Maria and Blue Sky. We rented 'Big Red' (I've no idea what they actually call it, but it was Big Red to us!) for two weeks in June for a family road trip. This was our very first road trip as a family of three, with my son, Sebastian (two-years-old). We had him during the pandemic in February 2020 right before everything shut down and this was the first major trip we've planned together. We usually travel internationally, but we decided this was a great opportunity to see more of the US and to get more camping in this summer. We traveled from Fort Collins, CO to Arizona and Utah and into Southern Colorado. The booking process was extremely smooth. Maria was wonderful to work with. We reached out for a quote and she responded promptly and professionally. We corresponded for a couple weeks before booking and communication was open and thorough. The administrative process was seemless. Absolutely no surprises or concerns. But, most importantly, the booking itself was fantastic. The van was lovely. It met all of our needs as a family of three. My husband and I slept on the bed, while the floor of the van more than comfortably fit my son's pack n' play. The functionality of the seats allowed us to eat together as a family during meals, but clear the area for plenty of space when we needed it during the day and at night for sleeping. The van is extremely self-sufficient. We "dry-camped" on BLM and National Forest land more than half the time (five days at a time at some points) and the lowest the power levels dropped to was 96 percent. This was without plugging in and while utilizing the induction stove, heater, AC/Fan, etc. It did so well. It's superb for dry-camping or "boondocking" as some call it. Everywhere we went, we got compliments and questions regarding the build-out.

I had really been looking forward to renting this van again, and (even though the renters mentioned they were selling the fleet), I am holding out hope they may stay in the biz, even if they go with different vans, because they were absolutely the most pleasant individuals to work with. I hope to meet again, Maria! Thank you to the moon and back for giving my family such amazing memories in your lovely camper van! They won't soon be forgotten.

We really enjoyed our 2 week Mt bike trip in Red Rover. The folks at Blue Sky Camper Vans are great and easy to work with. Sleeping was very comfortable and the frig and stove were more than adequate for our needs. Great headroom and very pleasant for two people to hang out. The van is pretty easy to drive.
A few things to be aware of- the van doesn’t have great ground clearance, particularly with a bike rack on the back- occasionally we needed to adjust our route into gas stations, etc if there were dips or bumps. We drove over 4000 miles and averaged 13-14 mpg. While overall Red Rover was fine to drive, a gusty day driving across Kansas on I70 wasn’t much fun.
Bottom line? I highly recommend that you rent a van from Blue Sky.

YES! Book this van. Maria was so accommodating and truly cares about her clients experience. We traveled with an 11 month old and the van was flawless. A step by step YouTube was sent to us upon arrival and we had no worries about operation of the van. They also have helpful reminders through out the van! Lastly but definitely not least is the BED! Seriously, so comfortable.
We were even able to set up our pack in play in the space where the seat goes up. This is a great adventure and I highly recommend working with blue sky! Cheers!

Amazing van! Everything about it is awesome. We did a 4 night trip with 2 adults, 1 infant, 1 toddler. Has everything you need and all the kitchen stuff is so organized. The compost toilet was really helpful to have especially with the recently potty trained toddler. We opted for 2 queens with 1 adult and 1 kid to each bed. Next time we would probably do just 1 queen so that the space is usable for lounging in addition to just sleep, and probably just use a pack and play for the infant or all share the bed. If weather is good would do the pop up tent. Love how the table latches on to the side- we used the stair as a seat a lot. Drives very smoothly, super easy to maneuver, backup camera is awesome, so much storage space, overall amazing.

Overall, my experience with the van itself and with Blue Sky Campervans was great. I rented a very new vehicle, which was clean, and was easy to operate in every way that I needed. It was comfortable, plenty of room for 1 person or 2 people, easy to drive, and all appliances worked well. The mattress on the bed was superb, and the skylight was a stellar feature ... literally! Getting to stargaze from bed before drifting off to sleep was a highlight of my trip, and this feature was the envy of my camping buddies. Also loved the screen shades on the skylight and one window. In general, communication before and after the rental went very well. Maria is great at reaching out, and also at replying to messages. Very easy to work with.

I would like to give Maria and Blue Sky Campervans a 5-star rating, but due to a couple of glitches during the hand-off process, I can't quite do that. The normal hand-off process was thrown off by a couple of circumstances which aren't par for the course, but affected my trip in a couple of ways, although mostly in minor ones. Probably the most significant was that shortly before leaving my home to get the van, I was asked to pick it up about 45 minutes later than planned, as it was still being cleaned. I arrived closer to 1 hour later than initially planned and the vehicle was still being cleaned. What probably should have been a 45-minute to 1 hour process, tops, ended up taking 2 hours. I don't fault anyone in particular, but this impacted my departure for my trip, as I ended up leaving 2.5 hours later than planned. I was meeting friends at the campsite, and had no way to communicate with them. Then, a couple of pieces of information about the van were omitted, which had more of a minor impact on my trip than a substantial one, but left me in a quandary once or twice while "glamping". Although invited to call or text with any questions or concerns, once I arrived to my camping destination, I had no cell service, so that was a moot point. Nonetheless, Maria took the feedback I gave when I returned the van very well. Much appreciated. Everyone I related with from Blue Sky Campervans was friendly, and I give a fair amount of leeway for human error in situations like this.

5-stars for comfort, and ease of use of van, and for overall communication before and after the rental period.
4-stars for the glitches related to the delayed pick-up timing and omission of a couple of useful details.
