The Great Outdoors

Book one of the RV rentals in Tensas Parish and begin your adventure by heading towards Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge, where you can try to spot the resident wildlife that includes Louisiana black bears, raccoons, alligators, and many others. Hunting and fishing are allowed within the park, as are paddling the rivers and hiking on the trail boardwalks, which provide access while protecting the flowers and plant life from being impacted. On your trek, you will encounter an observation tower that looks out over the park's cooperative farming program.Boeuf Wildlife Management Area is bordered on the east by the Boeuf River and has numerous lakes and bayous; the area is prone to flooding, making it difficult to go hiking, but the persistent waters make it an excellent habitat for shorebirds, wading birds, and waterfowl. It also makes Boeuf an ideal location for bird and wildlife observation and nature photography. There are a few short trails where you can hike, several of them following the paths of pipelines that pass through the area.Kisatchie National Forest is slightly farther out from Lake Bruin, so if you decide to explore this area while camping at Lake Bruin Campground, you should plan on making it a day trip. The area is popular with hunters and anglers, but there are many other activities you can also enjoy in this forest, such as canoeing and kayaking, hiking and mountain biking, or camping out (primitive camping). A day trip here also gives you a chance to take your St. Joseph RV rental out on the open road, offering a chance to take in more of the region's unique scenery.

Exploring The Area

Winnsboro has a reasonable number of restaurants for its small size, and there is a good balance of commercial chain establishments and privately owned eateries. Most of them serve the traditional American foods without any surprises, but the quality and portions are both good.Ferriday is about 35 miles south when you're RV camping at Lake Bruin Campground. It's also a small town, but it has a few museums, one of them dedicated to 1950's musician Jerry Lee Lewis, and another focusing on music that originated from the Delta region and including country, rock 'n' roll, and other musical genres. Staff at this museum can provide all kinds of interesting facts about the musicians and relate personal stories and anecdotes about them all. Another must-see attraction is a modern-day working cotton plantation with historic buildings and tours explaining the operation and the history behind it. Ferriday's restaurant scene is extensive with a long list of establishments and cuisines, including Italian and Mexican venues, Cajun, seafood, cafes and bakeries, and more. Most of the restaurants are reasonably priced and put out food that isn't fancy but is tasty and well prepared using fresh local ingredients. The northeastern region of Louisiana features a diverse blend of natural and historical attractions, with lots of culture in between. Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
