We had an amazing trip in Jeff’s Tioga and would definitely rent from him again. Jeff was a fantastic host to work with. He responded seemingly instantly for any questions we had while we were on our trip and gave an excellent training ahead of time of all the systems on the vehicle. As first time RV renters this was invaluable.

RV wasn't fancy, but it was comfortable and as advertised! Jeffrey was very communicative and the rental was easy to coordinate. Would happily rent from him again.

Jeffrey’s answer

I appreciate Pauls feedback given to me after they returned. They did not have any comments at pickup. This was the second time they rented from me. (Both still being rented) My advice for Paul is to browse options by age 10 years old or newer. My newest vehicle (the one Paul selected) is over 21 years old, the age of my vehicle with the lowest miles on it (35k) is 26yrs old! And for some it's simply not going to meet expectations no matter what I do. This is the case for Paul, they just need to rent much newer vehicles.

We enjoyed camping in the RV for a couple of nights. It was comfortable and super useful to have an on-board fridge that ran on propane. I got a detailed walk through over the phone but as first time RV users difficult to imagine and retain everything that was said over the phone. Jeff was very responsive to messages and calls, however would definitely suggest to have some basic instructions with photos in the RV or small videos. These would have been more helpful.

RV held together with duct tape.....loose doors, electrical tape over faucet, very smelly blanket on kitchen seat, lots of damage (cosmetic) to outside of vehicle, got a flat 3 miles from our final destination that took 24hrs to resolve.
Cut trip short ( without requesting refund...) just to get out of/away from the vehicle. Very disturbing experience as first time used RV rental. Certainly learned to stay away from such old/dated rigs and not trust website photo. False advertising, to say the least. We never should have accepted the vehicle, but we thought we could manage since key elements operational. We did not examine the tires closely enough. In retrospect, we believe we probably would have seen the poor condition if we had just looked more closely. So distracted with trying to make sure vehicle was drivable (since, again, it appeared to be falling apart....so much tape, so many dents, scratches, damage...). Essentials did work. We had heat, water, toilet, etc. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being worst and 10 being best, we would rate this experience a one.

Jeffrey’s answer

Last minute same day request in dead of winter no planning on customers part means no time to freshen after months of winter storage, limited time to test all functions and I warned them that terrible weather was not as much fun as people think it might be and blame me for a badly planned winter camping trip. The horrible week of below freezing temps before this cracked the windshield and I just returned a couple of days before this request from having a brand new windshield replaced, it was a good hour long test drive. No problems.
Ironically they complain about white duct tape covering damage but they also damaged it! A right rear tire flat most likely caused by running over the curb (a common mistake renters make with a dually) and continuing to drive on it resulted in shredding of the tire. Driving on a flat dually will heat it up wear off tread unevenly, melt and shred the tire even if brand new. In there defence it can be hard to tell you have a flat in the back but I can tell, it loses power and pulls a little to one side. I answered the phone without any delay and gave them a good option to drive it or have it towed just 3minutes away to a Tire center still open and fixed very quickly. They chose to keep driving it to the campground on a flat tire! causing it to tear a portion of the floor out (more duct tape needed until shop repair) causing an insurance claim instead of just a tire change. Not a single appliance or function was identified that they could not use. But an outdoorsy agent finally got them to admit they had a family emergency and that was the real reason this 2 night trip needed to end early. Being stuck at camp with a flat made it an urgent crisis of there own making when they wanted to leave but had trouble with a tow truck on a sunday. Refusing to have the tire repaired when they had easy access to do so sat meant that no tire shops were open on sun which I warned them about but since the camping trip was suppose to last until Monday I thought 2 days would be enough time to change a tire, it had been there preference to do it this way anyway.
They have roadside assistance, the delay was customers fault describing the vehicle wrong or the service or towing company not me. I spent many hours on the phone sat eve and all day sunday helping sort out that mess. The threats from customer that they were going to just leave it abandoned if I didn't fix the tire immediately did not help me to help them and is a violation of the contract for many reasons. When the service finally got a second tow service out with correct info it only took 20minutes to change the tire! That's not my fault. They took many hours to get back even though they didn't have any further trouble and it was only 1.5 hrs away. It was urgent they come back but took hours? And it was quite possible to enjoy the campsite without even worrying about the tire, I could easily talk the tow guy through the job by phone if customer had allowed me to handle it but they did not cooperate. As they mention all appliances worked so what was the problem here? Most likely terrible weather in Jan, poor planning, family emergency, poor customer choices dealing with a simple flat tire that created a panic and crisis. Even brand new tires can have a flat, I have to keep good records about tire condition so I am scratching my head what I would do differently for these folks besides just not rent to last minute people who don't seem to have a clue what they are doing. Its rare but I might say I wouldn't rent to them again. My RV has MORE damage and it wasn't worth the headache. Jeff

We were supposed to be able to pick up the RV at 11:30 am. The owner informed us that the RV was in another location and if we were to go and pick it up and bring it to his house, it would save him from being even more late. It costs us $60 for a taxi to go and pick up the RV. We immediately had to put $100 in gas in the RV. We drove to the owners house and didn't get to leave with the RV until 5:00 pm. Wasted our entire day of our vacation. The RV drove awful. If you were going above 40 mph and hit a bump or dip in the road, the top of the RV would sway from side to side uncontrollably. The stereo didn't work. And coming down a steep mountain road, the brakes continuously gave away causing us to slide into a log sticking out in the road, causing damage that will cost me even more. Also, at the end, the owner is trying to charge me for cleaning, when I did clean as he told me to, and is charging me for dumping the tank, when I did dump the tank. This costs me much more than anticipated with additional costs.

Jeffrey’s answer

Multiple accidents including hitting the ferry ticket booth just blocks from pickup (within minutes of leaving they hit something and didn't tell me) The damages nearly totalled the vehicle and the didn't say a word about any of it until after I asked at time of return. They did ask questions throughout the trip about how to use appliances and get plugged in, but deliberately kept damage a secret nearly costing me more cancelled trip. The next customer naturally left a poor review because it was damaged.
Tree stumps don't stick out into the road on appropriate paved roads. If they were on dirt or gravel forest service roads (which I have no doubt they were) it was in violation of contract and of course tire traction, braking on steep dirt/gravel would be a serious concern, they put there lives at risk and caused severe damage! I would not rent to them again and asked the website to block all future rental requests. (I have never had to say that before!)
The gas was left same as picked up so fuel was a non issue (if they dropped it off full then the first receipt could be a fuel credit but they gave it back low on gas). After booking they did not respond/call me back until pickup day so many details needed to be worked out last minute (which is not the best way to get organized). Pickup time is clearly posted at 3pm (not 11) and we were very close to that, I could not reach them and they never contacted me for early phone training so in person training had to be done at time of arrival. This ofcourse means using trip time to do training. Training can take 30-90minutes so departing around 430pm was very normal, they were likely delayed getting onto the ferry because they struck the ticket booth and had to exchange insurance info! The taxi to my location would have been $120 so they saved half of that and it was very close to the airport and they needed to get to the ferry a block from my house so it just made very good sense to arrange the pickup the way I did. It was a "same day turn around" so it was necessary to work hard to keep on schedule. Yes the interior floor was dirty and yes my minimum clean fee is $50. Its prominent at the top of every booking so you can't miss it. When I look down toilet and see liquid waste and when I pull open the valves and it all comes out, the charge is $20 each, 2 tanks is $40. Compared to hitting the RV on a tree stump while driving it's cheep! I always explain how you can do this for free yourself, it's up to you! Trust me it would be just fine with me if everyone dumped the waste tanks before returning it. It's a dirty job but someone does have to do it. The shop has inspected the tires and suspension, so far no problems found and no recommended service. But I'm sure it doesn't help to run over logs!

JAMES
Response for James bellow:
Deliberately negative review
They requested fire wood be stacked up on the bumper cargo carrier which they did not pay for, did not use and did not unload so I had to unload it at my house (some cleaning fee should have been charged)
Of course that meant generator and gas can had to be stored in shower area inside.
Built in generators are nice when they work, when they don't work its useless and can't be fixed all summer. My portable system works well if even needed which is not often.
The Fleetwoods bounce more than the other brands for some reason. Shocks are not even at half life yet. Low tire pressure, wind and speeding on the other hand can make this worse. It is the renters responsibility to drive at safe speeds, report everything to owner asap, have tire pressure checked and this renter did not tell me anything until writing this bad review. Where is the concern for their own safety, my vehicle or the next group not even telling me about anything? False
It has 6 seat belts, they just didn't bother to ask or take them out of the cushions, this small size RV doesn't have any storage, I don't have any junk in rv (I rarely use it myself) it has things customers may need, if you don't use it for your trip that doesn't mean its junk. This group took out the leveling blocks so if they used the fridge without leveling the RV they risked destroying a $2,000 fridge. With 9 faucet handles plus special valves in the water system, ANY drip or use will cause the pump to cycle. That's why it makes sense to turn OFF the pump when not using it, which they did not think to do? No gas fumes inside if you fallow basic instructions for generator and gas can use. Especially if you don't load up your own "junk" on the bumper cargo carrier where things like gas cans are best stored during travel. I am always always happy to answer questions, troubleshoot any problem and even fix or find solutions when needed. But it helps to ask for my help and report things to owner.

Not bad for an older model! Was a great introduction to RVing. Jeff was always available when/if needed and very communicable. Could use some updates and minor repairs cosmetically on the inside, but overall worked as expected!

3August 2020

It was fine for a first time. We were told to clean it, we did, still charged cleaning fee after wiping all touchable surfaces with antibacterial wipes.

Jeffrey’s answer

People do have differing opinions of what clean is but you can't escape reality, if two other people you don't know tell you it's not clean then it's just not clean. Paul was very well aware of the policy and accepted it fully, we discussed it several times in writing back and forth. The final bill was complete and well explained right after return (same day or next) including that the minimum cleaning charge $50 was required because both I and the next group had to work on the inside otherwise the trip would have to be delayed! Paul didn't contact me after that but 10 days later they asked support to review the charge saying it was unfair. The interior condition was bad enough on return that even after I spent time cleaning and ran out of time, the following party complained about the condition of the interior and had to work on it. During peak season the turnaround time between trips is a loaded time frame with a long checklist. Usually 2 hrs outside cleaning alone (which I am doing at no charge in exchange for customer participation on focusing on the interior cleaning upon return). And many other things must be done. It's not like I have plenty of time and a cleaning crew to take care of it if the renter leaves a mess. It's also not just about dividing chores or fees, this is during a pandemic, taking these trips is increasing everyone's risk and 4 different groups are involved each time (the group before, the current group, the group after and the owner) and I don't want anyone getting sick, including me. So when asked to focus on cleaning inside, what I mean is that I don't want anyone to get sick or dead from a camping trip. The cleaning procedure is intended to reduce cross contact between groups and with the owner. Not to make money off of cleaning charges. I'm not getting rich charging $50 when I've already spent 10 hours for free doing other things. I can spend all day working on the outside and have zero risk, but if I have to go inside and spend time cleaning up right after a group took a long road trip in it, before it's been sterilized.... I'm at risk. The procedures go in a specific order so that no group is exposed to anything except what they encounter on there own trip. (you clean your own dust/germs and I sterilize it even more after) When it arrives I use UV lights and ozone gas inside while I clean the outside, this process alone takes hours. I can't even enter the rv until I finish this first. This keeps me and all groups separated from exposure (at least in theory). Anyone doing a poor job of cleaning the interior or complaining about having to participate or pay the fee is putting peoples lives in danger literally. Most rentals have something closer to a $250 required cleaning fee in normal years, this is not a normal year and $50 is more than fair if you don't complete the cleaning required. According to our drivers licenses at least.... we are all adults here so please wear a mask outside your home and if an rv owner tells you to clean the inside on your return as part of a "Pandemic Response Plan" then do a decent job and stop whining about it. I've lost family and some have been in the hospital for months, its not a Hoax.

The RV looked and worked as promised. Jeff was fantastic in responding quickly and took the time to explain everything. The RV was a great value. It is a little older and does need some repairs, but Jeff was very upfront about everything. Our family had a great trip and it was all thanks to Jeff and this RV!

Jeffrey’s answer

During a Pandemic no less! Thanks Garrett, happy to again.

This RV is super old and many things need fixing, e.g., signal light (for turning right) doesn't work and the owner says to use hazardous light instead. This is dangerous to drive. The water pump is leaking, and I wasn't informed about that. Power generator isn't working, so you have to carry an extra portable generator.
Cargo space were used for storing cleaning tools, and so you can't use to store your bags.

Jeffrey’s answer

Super old? Can you miss the age boldly posted in the headline of every listing? Age is one of the search filters.... These folks most likely found me by low price shopping, they knew how old it was and knew it was a good value, I know my market.
Unfortunately all trailers have horrible glitchy tail lights, I can do some work myself but when skilled auto electrician work is required during the busiest time of year the option might be canceling the trip or using portable trailer lights. Would you like to cancel your once in a lifetime trip or push a different button to make a light blink?
I'm not aware of a leaking water pump either?!?!?
Built in generator options vary (at least on the smaller size) such as NO compartment or "gen ready" empty box, etc. In this case it had a fully built in unit that blew up after only 100 hrs which is very low. Cost to replace could be 1/4 of the entire rv and it might just happen again. The portable is quieter, newer, uses less fuel, meets more campsite noise limits and can actually be replaced during long trips if needed while the built in can barely be repaired over winter let alone during a trip. After this nearly new $4,000.00 gen blew on me in Florida in average 100degree weather across the entire country with over 3k miles to go and zero options to repair/replace I was very happy to buy a portable and have trouble free Air Conditioning and never want to rely on a built in again!
This trip is happening in the middle of a Pandemic and they are complaining about minimal cleaning supplies being included and my required Covid19 response plan.... How would you like to clean up after this group? Its true the smaller RVs do not have any storage for travel bags, sorry that's a fact, use the shower or soft side travel bags.
YES training and pickups are "no contact" over the phone (I'm glad to deliver this service). I'm still here 24/7 like usual thankfully still alive. My mom passed away and my sis has been in the hospital for months....
Is this thinking the reason we can't stop the spread? Just an opinion.
If you are a first time rv'r sure you will need to figure some things out along the way but its just a ford van, its not a 747 like the 40' buses (you have to use a computer screen while driving those!!) and I'm here to help. If you have a sense of adventure its fun. Maybe not fun for everyone.
I used to do in person training for 1.5 hours with each group until covid19 came along, I didn't need a bunch of photos. Until now I didn't think training by phone was even possible but I'm adding photos and it's working fine. Some people enjoy complaining. Even I do it just for kicks sometimes. If you don't like a good value.... just pay more? Something tells me paying more wouldn't make these folks happier. Yes beware, an average to low priced rv considered by most to be a good value awaits you... Wanna see a national park.... before they are gone?

My cousin UNI and I had amazing time in the state of Washington on our camping trip. From start to finish Jeffrey was an amazing host and answered all of our questions that we had. Although the RV was a little bit small for myself as I am 6 foot four we had a great time I would highly recommend for two people

Jeffrey’s answer

I am 6'3" myself and I buy to fit me for those rare times I get to camp and from experience I can say you won't have a higher ceiling or larger sleeping spaces or seats in ANY rv of this size or even bigger. Slide outs provide more open walk around floor space but the furniture and beds are still the same or smaller. In very very rare models both sides of living room fold down into a king bed, my first custom cruiser was customized this way but from factory without custom modifications this is roomy compared to most floor plans. It also has open space at the end of the sofa (rather than an abrupt wall) allowing some leg stretching room that is very rare. Most people are first time rv campers so they would not know.
Any manufacturers listening? Thanks Daniel!

4July 2020

Jeff was really the nicest guy. Very communicative from booking, training, check-in, and check out. I had several questions early morning and late nights and he always responded promptly. The pickup process was seamless. The RV itself has quite a bit of wear for its age but is a good value. The biggest issues for me were that it wasn't super clean at pickup (eg. sand under rug left by previous owner). A couple of components where also showing wear (I noted them for replacement). I'd also suggest Jeff remove some of the older storage items from cabinets and storage areas to make some more room for renters (some of the extras came in handy - found an adapter I needed that was in storage). But other things are just taking up way too much space (old umbrellas and ice scrapers). Would rent again for a family or getaway with buddies, but if your looking for a super luxury brand new ride with everything tip top and spotless you may want to look elsewhere.

Jeffrey’s answer

I agree its a good value and its 20 year age is boldly at the top of the posting so it's not comparable to a new luxury unit in price or age. Thank you Sean, happy to do it again.

Scott H.

4July 2020

Well some of the storage room was full which made it difficult to store belongings when you bring your own things all in all was worth the money.

Jeffrey’s answer

Im not sure what this refers to, 1 outside storage: hoses, leveling blocks, jack etc and inside: broom, vacuum and the vehicle manual are the things I can think of and would not want to remove them. Its true that all rv's this size do not have any extra outside storage bays but the many cabinets inside (at least 5 that should be empty with good space) are usually plenty to put everything away except for hard sided luggage which has to go into shower or work around it. I don't leave kits in unless purchased or clutter, it will disappear anyway so I'm not sure what this comment is about.

4June 2020

Jeffrey was very accommodating for short notice (3 days) to rent his rv. Everything on the rv was in qorking order for our needs. A few things do need attention on the Tioga, bathroom vent was sealed closed due to damage, ladder for over cab bed is missing, and cloth could use a cleaning. All in all this vehicle is in really good condition for its age. We had a wonderful camping trip. Thank you Jeffrey.

Jeffrey’s answer

Thank you Jeff, I have always felt the Tioga has been a good value. Happy to do it again!

First of all, Jeff was great to work with and always quick and helpful with communication. The rig itself has seen some wear and tear over the years but we weren’t looking for a luxury experience. I found the RV to be a great value for the price.

Jeffrey’s answer

Thanks Alastair, it's difficult to find small rv's in good enough condition but still reasonable in price to offer renters and I do my very best. Many people are not experienced but even if you are the inventory available can be very different area to area and time of year so I just try to stay in the affordable range, some will find it better than expected, others may have expected more but I am limited to what I can offer. Thanks again!

Laura B.

5August 2019

Everything went fine, being our first time camping we did the tutorial with Jeffrey the day before picking up the RV, during which he explained us in the most detailed way everything we needed to know and do, so we had no problem.... we knew we were not renting the latest model, so the rv's conditions on the inside (it has his age) were more than fine for us.
communication super fine during the trip, pick up and drop of quick and easy. would recommend and rent again

2July 2019

Jeffrey was excellent, but this vehicle is old, upholstery dirty, torn and cushions broken down. Everything worked well, but this vehicle needs major improvements.

Jeffrey’s answer

First thank you for feedback. Out of many rv's over the years the Tioga is my newest and nicest by far. During the busy season it may not be possible to have all damage repaired or replaced between trips (sometimes I only have 2 hours) but I do my best to replace as much as possible and keep good record so no one is charged for damage they didn't cause. I still think it's a good value and I am always on the lookout for ways to update/upgrade so you have the best experience possible. Thank you and thanks for the positive comments and feedback.

Kenneth M.

5July 2019

We had a great time and we're going to recommend your agency to some of our family and friends. I don't have any photos but I can tell you that the adventure was great. Thanks Ken

The rig is very old and that is visible. At delivery one of the blinkers did not work, at the end 2 did not work. One of the braking lights did not work. Jeffrey is a nice guy, but in my opinion the price he asks is too high.

3July 2018

You get what you pay for. The vehicle is nearly 20 years old, so we expected plenty of cosmetic wear (which there was). We did not expect a battery with

Michael K.

4June 2018

I took my two kids out to the peninsula in this and we had a great time. Instead of "worn", I would say the RV is "well loved". Jeffrey was easy to deal this with and gave good and clear instructions.

2April 2018

I feel bad writing such a poor review because Jeffrey was very responsive and a very helpful, good guy. We were just disappointed with the condition of the vehicle when we received it. We were the first rental of the season, he was not prepared for us when we pick it up. Even though the surfaces had been wiped down the, vehicle had not been vacuumed and there was musty mildew on the pillows and upholstery. Aside from that there were tail lights out and the shocks were so bouncy that it was hard to keep control on the highway at times with winds. This vehicle needs some maintenance and a dry-z-air in the winter months. The last thing was the bed. It really needs to be replaced. Unfortunately it’s a couch/mattress which I’m not sure you can replace that after 17 years. I have confidence that after this review Jeffrey will make a right on most of the corrections and hopefully have a great vehicle for the next person to rent.

Jeanie B.

3October 2017

Lack of experience only prompts me to rate this vehicle 3 of 5 or "average." This was our first RV experience and it was a good one all around. This vehicle is a little worn in it's upholstery and couch springs, but it's clean! and the engine is peppy, the transmission excellent. All systems (fridge, stovetop, water pump, water heater, furnace, etc.) were a go except the oven, which we really did not need anyway. Jeffery was responsive to our questions. The pick-up/drop-off site was off-putting... we nearly cancelled the trip when we saw it, but that would have been a mistake because we had a great time.
