Kilo Hoku translates to Stargazer, or in more ancient times it relates to the voyagers who used the stars by night to navigate their journey here to Hawaii. My husband and I custom built this van to help travelers connect with nature and experience the freedom and adventure of being a modern day voyager.Clean, comfortable, and loaded with Everything you could possibly need on your trip to Maui. There is a queen size memory foam mattress inside the van sleeps 2. There is an additional full size blow up mattress for sleeping under the stars on the roof deck, or in the tent if traveling with a family or group. We also have a blow up toddler mattress that fits perfectly on the floor inside the van or inside the tent. We're a local Maui family wanting to share our camper and extra Aloha with visitors. RecommendationsHere are some of our recommended campsites and favorite areas available on Maui. Maui is an EXTREMELY popular travel destination so try to reserve in advance especially during our high seasons (December-April and July-August).Hosmer Grove Campgrounds - Haleakala National ParkMany visitors will wake up at 2:00AM to make the long drive/tour up to the summit of Haleakala just to catch the sunrise. Others will arrive hours early to save a spot for the sunset show. However, only a few get to see both! This is just one of the many reasons to camp overnight at Hosmer Gove Campground. You can arrive mid-day and hike the trails of Haleakala then return to the summit to watch the sunset. In the morning you can awake to the spectacular sunrise! The added bonus, because you are camping in the park, you don’t need to get the otherwise required “sunrise viewing reservations.” All you will need is a park pass, purchased at the entrance, currently $25.00. The park pass is good for 3 days so you have plenty of time to see all the sights including a sunrise AND sunset!
