The Great Outdoors

There are lots of wilderness areas to check out when you book a motorhome rental near Mullett Lake, though you don't have to go far from your RV campsite to immerse yourself in some rugged Michigan nature. Just outside the campground, you can explore Aloha State Park. Softball fields, basketball courts, volleyball nets, horseshoe pits, swimming beaches, fishing areas, and boat ramps are part of the park’s offering. The North Eastern State Trail is a fantastic hiking trail that carves through the forest alongside Mullett Lake.Cheboygan State Park is just north of Aloha State Park, on the scenic shores of Lake Huron. Here you can enjoy swimming or fishing in Duncan Bay, or boating around Lake Huron at sunrise. Epic views of Bois Blanc Island and a few historic lighthouses are sure to impress, while a network of trails enables visitors to hike, mountain bike, cross-country ski, and snowshoe. Campsites and cabins can be rented if you feel like staying the night.Wilderness State Park is found on the opposite side of the Lower Peninsula, on the shores of Lake Michigan. This year-round state park and campground are fantastic no matter the season, with incredible beaches and evergreen forests. Thousands of acres of forest and towering dunes are hallmarks of this lovely area, as are its peaceful picnic areas and historic structures. The lack of light pollution around Wilderness State Park makes it a great place to gaze at the night skies. There are several other state parks within an hour's drive of Aloha Campground, like Burt Lake State Park and Petoskey State Park, but only one national park exists in Michigan, and it requires quite a trek to get there. Isle Royale National Park is a breathtaking expanse of wilderness found on an island in Lake Superior to the north. This remote island park is reachable by boat, way up by the Canadian border. Basic camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, and stunning views await when you take the journey to this fascinating island park.

City Attractions

Aloha Campground isn't surrounded by a lot of city sights and attractions, but a short drive to Mackinaw City or Cheboygan will open up a lot of opportunities. Charming restaurants, small-town breweries, local shops, and historic sites dot the streets of Cheboygan, giving campers a much-needed break from the woods. The Opera House in Cheboygan is a lovely place to go to catch a play, musical, opera, or concert. The historic theater features an intimate setting in a refurbished interior and has perfect acoustics. The Sea Shell Museum is a neat place to stop along the highway, part gift shop and part learning space. Tons of marine items, seashells, sand dollars, sea glass, and other aquatic treasures can be found inside, and children absolutely adore the pirate ship playground out front.Up in Mackinaw City, you can continue your sightseeing by taking a trip to the Mackinac Bridge, which connects the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. This incredible piece of engineering has stellar views thanks to its lofty height, so get your camera ready. An on-site museum pays tribute to the lives lost while building the much-needed bridge, including mementos, artifacts, and old photographs. When you book an RV in Cheboygan County, get ready to have the time of your life.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
