In south-central Michigan, the small village of Pinckney is full of surprises. A few thousand residents call Pinckney home, a town that has been a pleasant place to live since its founding in the 1820s. The community was named by William Kirkland, in honor of his brother, Charles Pinckney Kirkland. The town was officially platted in 1837 and later confirmed as an incorporated village in 1883.

Pinckney is most closely associated withAnn Arbor, but it is quite close to Lansing, the state capital too. There are loads of exceptional parks and recreation areas close to town, including Pinckney Recreation Area which shares a name with the village. The town is also known for its lovely cultural celebrations, especially its epic St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Experience the Sites and Scenery

The Purple Rose Theatre is a fantastic performance space, with over 200 concerts and performances a year. This enchanting building has unique style and gorgeous architectural design laced with deep purple. This intimate space also puts on theatrical productions and has around 160 seats, so be sure to book your tickets early.

If you are around in the winter time and enjoy skiing or snowboarding, Mount Brighton is a winter wonderland where you can hit the slopes and have a blast. It may be cold, and it may be snowy, but Mount Brighton is a hub for excitement and entertainment throughout the winter, and the rest of the year too. In the summertime, you can play a round of golf on the resort’s course or eat at one of its fine dining establishments.
