There are several marinas and boating outfitters on the Missouri side of the river, particularly near Dardenne Island. It's a popular place for local yacht owners from nearby St. Louis. Dardenne Island itself is a conservation area full of diverse wildlife. Waterfowl hunting is permitted here, provided you follow Missouri's state hunting regulations. Trapping is also allowed with a special permit.

One of the more unique activities in the area is the Nuclear Waste Adventure Trail, which is run by the federal government and takes you to the top of a huge pile of nuclear waste.
