The Great Outdoors

No matter where you go in Missouri, you'll enjoy endless opportunities for outdoor adventures, and the area surrounding Lazy Day Campground is no exception. There are few more interesting ways to explore nature than spelunking at Graham Cave State Park. The history is rich here, with human artifacts dating back thousands of years discovered on this site. Today, visitors can also go camping, boating, hiking, fishing, and check out the interpretive activities along with exhibits. If you're looking for a wilder adventure, you might want to check out Danville Conservation Area. This 3,000-acre area is a popular spot for hunting turkey and deer, but keen botanists will find plenty to discover here as well. Trek through sandstone woodlands and keep your eyes peeled for unique rock formations within the landscape. Other on-site activities include camping and birdwatching.More adventure awaits at Mark Twain National Forest near Rolla. With over one million acres encompassing 750 miles of hiking trails, this vast forest offers no shortage of opportunities to reconnect with nature. From walking along the historic Ozark Trail to flowing down a stream in a canoe, there are many ways to experience this wondrous wilderness. Exploring the City

Those RV camping at Lazy Day Campground can enjoy an array of unique experiences that don't involve nature. Thrillseekers might like to try a ziplining adventure, while history buffs can spend the day learning more about the area's German heritage at the Historic Hermann Museum in Hermann. One of the best places to delve into local history, this German schoolhouse built in 1871 now serves as a centerpiece for local culture. Try a group tour, or explore the themed rooms at your own pace. The Kinder Room houses a collection of antique toys, while the Heritage Rooms display artifacts from Hermann's early days as a fledgling settlement. The best part of having a home on wheels is the ability to explore further afield. Steer your RV rental toward the Museum of Art & Archaeology in Columbia. One of the highlights of the University of Missouri campus, the museum showcases relics and artifacts from all over the world, from paintings and sculptures to ancient Roman coins. Rotating and permanent exhibitions mean there’s always something interesting to see.Another worthwhile (though slightly macabre) tourist attraction is the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, which operated from the early 19th century to 2004. Among the penitentiary's most famous inmates were "Pretty Boy Floyd" and women's rights activist Emma Goldman. A variety of tour options offer different ways to explore the former maximum-security prison and learn its history. The brave souls in your party might like to try a three-hour ghost hunt, while those less keen on the paranormal can learn about prison riots and breakout attempts on a history tour.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
