Thain Creek Campground

4700-foot elevation, in the Highwoods Mountains. 12 campsites. Fishing for brook and rainbow trout in Briggs Creek and Thain Creek. Hike up to Windy Mountain and back on a 6-mile loop trail for a great view of the surrounding plains and faraway mountains. Other hikes are along Briggs Creek or on the Highwood nature trail.Bears may frequent the area; keep all food out of sight in approved containers and remove all food from area after eating. Mandatory food storage is required.


Driving directions to Thain Creek Campground

From Great Falls, go east on US 89 6 miles, east 13 miles on MT-228, 16 miles east on County Road 121, then 2 miles east on Forest Road 8840. The latter are dirt & gravel.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
