Discover Pemberton

The Great Outdoors

New Jersey is a state full of beautiful pine forests and huge lakes. Located smack bang in the middle of all of these natural landscapes is Pemberton, making it the perfect location to rent an RV.

One of the biggest outdoor attractions in the state is the Pine Barrens. Pemberton provides the perfect base to explore these. This densely forested area stretches over more than seven counties of New Jersey and has remained uncultivated for so many years due to the lack of fertile soil in the area. As a result, this large, untouched land, is now home to an incredibly diverse ecosystem. This has encouraged wildlife such as orchids, carnivorous plants, the tree frog and even the rattlesnake to flourish in the area! The unique landscape makes for an interesting location to explore on foot, bike, horse and even kayak! This would be a great location to park your Pemberton camper rental and explore the outdoors for the day!

Should you prefer your forests slightly less unkempt and wild, head to one of the state forests in the area. Both Brendan T Byrne State Forest and Wharton State Forest are both within driving distance from town. A perfect day trip in your Pemberton motorhome rental, both forests are best explored on foot on one of the many lengthy walking trails in the parks.

There are several, well-maintained lakes in the area if you are looking for somewhere to cool down on a hot summer day or just a place to enjoy the water during the cooler months. Mirror Lake and County Lake are particular favorites and provide visitors with the amenities to fish, swim, kayak and relax. The difference between the two lakes is minimal; however, fishing comes more highly recommended at Mirror Lake, with bass and pickerel all up for grabs.

RV Parks

When you book a luxury motorhome rental in Pemberton, you will need a home base during your travels. Strangely, this pocket of New Jersey has limited places to park up your RV. Although scarce in number, the ones they do have are incredibly beautiful!

Brendan T Byrne State Forest is the best offering in the area. This campground does have all the facilities you could need for a comfortable nights stay; potable water, full hookups for your RV, hot showers, fire pits, and picnic benches! Although slightly more basic in its approach, you could not wish for a more beautiful location to spend a few nights peacefully hidden away from the rest of the world in your RV rental from Pemberton.

Timberland Lake Campground is another great option. Located in the town of Jackson, it is just a 30-minute drive away from Pemberton. This family orientated campground has 200 sites over 54 acres, so plenty of space for everyone! With modern facilities and changing kids entertainment every weekend, this is the perfect place to park for a day or even a week. If you are looking for a similar offering, with less of the crowds, head down the road to Indian Rock RV Park and Campground. Pitches are arranged under a tall canopy of trees, and the large pitches make for a peaceful and comfortable stay!

Exploring the City

The history contained in this small town is second-to-none and is well worth exploring for anyone who is interested in the history of the area.

Start your journey back in time at the Whitesbog Historic Village. This historic compound makes a great day out for the whole family! With over 25 historic buildings to explore that date back to the early 1900’s, cranberry and blueberry fields to discover and the magnificent Elizabeth White Gardens – you will have a day jam-packed with new discoveries. The grounds are open 365 days of the year, but to make the most out of your visit, time your visit with one of the free tours on offer.

Across town, you will also find the historic Smithville Mansion. A similar offering to the previously mentioned historic village, but on a smaller scale, this estate has a more intimate feel to it. Keep a look out for the regular family days that they host, which include live music. Horse carriage rides, old fashioned games and fun for the children a well as arts and crafts.

The center of town itself boasts a huge variety of restaurants, high street shopping, and even a Dunkin’ Donuts should you feel the urge!

There is no reason why this small town, abundant in history and surrounded by beautiful forests and lakes, shouldn’t be part of your itinerary when you start planning your trip in your Pemberton motorhome rental.
