This charming, family-run RV park is located in a popular recreation area, surrounded by towering mountain peaks, federal conservation areas, and Native American reservations.

With just over 50 campsites, this small, pet-friendly campground near Alto is on the Bonito River. It's both comfortable and quiet, an ideal mix for restful RV camping vacations in the great outdoors. Full hookup sites, sites with electric and water hookups, and rustic tent camping sites are provided by Bonito Hollow RV Park & Campground, with some of the best spots found along the river, offering fantastic views and the tranquil sound of flowing water.

Hiking trails straddle the river at Bonito Hollow RV Park & Campground and lead to Bonito Lake nearby. Swimming or paddling around in these fabulous waterways helps to beat the heat in the summertime, and fishing is a great way to pass the time too. Over by the city of Roswell to the east, Bottomless Lakes State Park provides people with a wonderful place to get a feel for the desert landscapes of New Mexico. Since becoming the first state park in New Mexico back in 1933, this gorgeous park has brought in millions of visitors thanks to its famous lakes that are so deep they seem bottomless. Only one of the lakes, Lea Lake, is suitable for swimming, but there are concession stands, beaches, and other facilities lining its shores.

Another option is to head over to one of the two nearby national parks straddling the Texas-New Mexico state line. Guadalupe Mountains National Park is in north Texas and is an extraordinary place to sleep beneath the stars, go for mountain treks, and climb to the top of Guadalupe Peak, the highest point in Texas. Eighty thousand acres of rolling hills and mountain landscapes on the fringes of the Chihuahuan Desert are incredible to explore on foot. In the same mountain range, Carlsbad Caverns National Park near Carlsbad gives you yet another place to add to your trip itinerary. Home to one of the world’s largest and most famous cave systems, this glorious nature park has hundreds of miles of subterranean passageways, chasms, caverns, and other impressive geological features. City Sightseeing

Bonito Hollow RV Park & Campground is nestled in the wilderness, so heading to the nearest town is necessary for any dining, shopping, or sightseeing. Carrizozo is the seat of Lincoln County, and the closest city to the RV park, with lots of cafes, art galleries, and historical sites to visit. The Old Lincoln County Courthouse Museum is a gorgeous historic site and a wonderful place to learn about the Old West. You can see one of the most visited state monuments in all of New Mexico and learn about infamous outlaws like Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid while strolling through this amazing museum.

The Carrizozo Heritage Museum continues the history lesson, with artifacts, outfits, weapons, and other objects representing both Lincoln County and Carrizozo's fascinating history. The lovely local museum has a fantastic book collection and volunteer docents who are happy to answer questions.
