The Great Outdoors

There are some beautiful outdoor spaces worth visiting when you book an RV in Wayne County, and one of the best is Chimney Bluffs State Park. This state park is unlike any other park in the area. Covering 500 acres along Lake Ontario, the park features massive spires that jut out of the ground, creating a unique, mountainous landscape. One of the most popular activities at this park is hiking. There are nature trails that will take you lakeside or above the spires so you can fully appreciate the landscape. There are also grills and picnic tables, so you can sit at one of the scenic lookouts and enjoy a bite to eat. Other popular activities at this park include fishing and hunting.Alternatively, you might be looking for the ideal spot for some water sports during your RV rental vacation near Lake Ontario. Fair Haven Beach State Park is perfect for water recreation and features sandy beaches and easy access to Lake Ontario. The 1,500-foot beach is an excellent spot for swimming and sunbathing, and this well-equipped state park also offers boat rentals so you can explore Lake Ontario's serene waters. There are also picnic tables, so you have a lakeside lunch, and a playground for kids to enjoy.If you're looking to explore one of the smaller inland lakes, consider Lake Cayuga State Park. This lake park consists of the large Cayuga Lake surrounded by rolling hills and woodlands. Cayuga Lake is a great place for fishing, and anglers can catch a plethora of different fish, including largemouth bass, carp, and northern pike. There are also several boat launches if you want to try fishing in deeper waters. Hikers will enjoy a flat lakeside stroll in this park, and pets are also welcome, so make sure to bring you dog along on your adventure. This state park even features a swimming beach so you can take a dip in the lake, or just soak up the sun and enjoy a picnic.

Wolcott campers will love being so close to Rochester, which provides many great excursions the whole family will enjoy. If you're looking for something fun and educational that the kids will love, consider a visit to The Strong Museum of Play. This museum centers around the history of play and has one of the biggest collections of play-related items of any museum in the United States. The museum includes a vast collection of video games dating back as far as the 1970s, as well as over 75,000 toys from throughout the ages. Kids and big kids will find something they love at this museum, and it makes for the perfect family destination.Or, you might be looking to experience some thrills during your visit to Rochester. The local amusement park is sure to get your heart racing with over 70 diverse and exciting attractions. Highlights include the Jack Rabbit, a rollercoaster dating back to the 1920s. This rollercoaster is the longest-running rollercoaster in the United States and has been thrilling visitors for nearly 100 years. There are also classic rides, including bumper cars, log flumes, and much more. If you find yourself visiting on a hot day, this theme park also contains a water park so you can cool down while still enjoying some thrills.Rochester also features an impressive zoo, the Seneca Park Zoo. This zoo is heavily focused on conservation and teaching visitors about how to help save fragile ecosystems. The zoo runs numerous conservation programs both at the zoo and in the wild and contains some rare and endangered species including Amur tigers, polar bears, and white rhinos.

What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
