Shady Oaks RV Resort & Campground

Come stay in the heart of the northern Adirondack Mountains when you camp at Shady Oaks RV Park. In Plattsburgh, the family-friendly campground sits on 44 acres of cedar and oak trees. The campground has a swimming pool, a playground, picnic pavilions, and horseshoe pits. If you visit during the summer, you can enjoy fun events and planned activities such as the Hawaiian Luau, corn roasts, barbecues, and potluck suppers. Pets are welcomed here; they just have to be on a leash at all times, and vaccination records should be presented at the time of check-in.Visitors can choose from over 100 shaded or sunny sites. All RV sites have full hookups with 20/30/50 amp electrical service. Each site is outfitted with a picnic table and fire pit. If you need firewood, you can pick some up from the camp store. The campground also has clean restrooms with hot showers, a laundry room, and a banquet hall. Enjoy free Wi-Fi and a clubhouse with a library and board games. For your safety and comfort, the entire RV campground is fenced in.

The Great Outdoors

The High Falls Gorge is considered one of the most scenic areas in the Adirondacks. The gorge is a privately-owned nature park covering 22 acres. Four incredible waterfalls cascade over the rocks and into a gorge carved millions of years ago. Just across the way, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Whiteface Mountain. You’ll also be within walking distance of the famous AuSable River. An incredible place for people of all ages and abilities, High Falls Gorge is not to be missed when you rent a camper near Shady Oaks RV Park.Cumberland Bay State Park is another gorgeously scenic place to visit when you book an RV in Clinton County. The park is situated on the western shores of Lake Champlain and is popular among campers and day-users. The park has a large, natural sand beach, a playground, and playing fields. There are also picnic areas with tables and grills. Other attractions and amenities include golf courses, boardwalks, pools, and splash pads. A campground that can accommodate RV rentals of varying sizes is also at your disposal.Sand Bar State Park in Milton, Vermont is named for the natural sandbar between mainland Vermont and South Hero Island. At the park, you’ll find a 2,000-foot sand beach, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Bring your own watercraft, or rent a kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard from the park’s office. If you prefer to stay on dry land, there are shaded and open picnic grounds with picnic tables and cooking grills as well as a play area. The park is open for day-use only.

The Kent-Delord House sometimes referred to as the Kent-Delord House Museum is a historic home in Clinton County. The house was constructed in 1797 and is one of the oldest houses in Plattsburgh. When you visit, you can learn more about this era through the collection of furnishings, artwork, and family documents. The grounds are also home to some magnificent formal gardens.If you brought your passport and are willing to travel a bit, Montreal, Canada is just an hour's drive away from your campsite at Shady Oaks RV Park. Montreal is the cultural and economic capital of Quebec and is a cosmopolitan city with a mix of modernism and old European charm. While visiting, you can check out the Montreal Botanical Garden, the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, Mount Royal, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Olympic Stadium, and several other points of interest in this unique city.A few miles away in Burlington, Vermont, visitors can check out the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum. Ethan Allen was the founder of Vermont, and this location is the only surviving residence of his in the state. When you visit, you will see some of the daily tasks and skills required to survive and thrive on the Vermont frontier. Guests will also be introduced to Allen’s philosophical writings and land speculation activities. What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.


Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
