We had a great time exploring the area in Buttercup! Communication was great with Patricia and everything was as expected. Patricia even loaded us up with blankets and everything we needed for camping.

Great experience all around! Patricia was very friendly and accommodating - even supplied blankets, extra water and propane. Buttercup is a delightful camper van! Super cute, very clean, everything works perfectly (stove, refrigerator, lights, etc.). Highly recommend!

SUCH a fun trip - the van is super well taken care of, Patricia is amazing and flexible, and importantly vs. other rentals it is fully outfitted with bedding + chairs + kitchen + everything you need. We can't wait to do this again, and would buy Buttercup if she were ever for sale!! :)

The whole experience from picking up Buttercup to dropping her off went superbly!! Engine upgrade made a huge difference and I’m really surprised an absolute Gem like this is available for rent!! Buttercup was a DREAM! Adored driving and camping in this van so much, we’re going through withdrawals! So cozy inside while we were up on the chilly Humboldt coast. Had fun cooking on the little stove. Fridge works really well. There was ample storage in all the little organized compartments. Gas mileage was surprisingly good too. Patricia is a GREAT host- thoughtful, great communication, flexible, and obviously she takes care of the van with tons of love and care. She and Buttercup made us feel right at home! Can’t recommend this experience enough.

Highly recommended! This was our first experience with a "Westy", and Patricia made it super-easy for us. The pickup experience was very thorough. We started off with a tour of the inside and made sure we knew how everything worked there. On the interior, everything was 100% (stove, fridge, pop-up, beds, etc.), and the van was very clean. Then she put me in the driver's seat and we went for a little test drive to make sure we got everything figured out the road as well. All the mechanical work she's done has really paid off -- great on the hills and good gas mileage, too. We spent two days camping (2 adults, a teenager, and a 4th-grader), and it slept all of us comfortably. Kids loved it. Next time we go camping and want to skip the tents, we'll be checking to see if "Buttercup" is available!

My son and I had an absolute blast in this classic Westfalia. We had a fun drive from the Bay Area to Yosemite Valley where we won style points for the coolest camper in Upper Pines campground. She handled great and was the perfect base camp for us as we explored Yosemite. Patricia is a superhost and equipped the Westfalia with all the little extras you may need on a camping trip. The van was spotless and well maintained. Look forward to renting her again!

Rented Buttercup for a family birthday camp event! My daughter was thrilled to have a classic Westfalia van to sleep in. Patricia was a super communicator and was quick to respond to all messages😊

We rented Buttercup to camp in when we went to Yosemite to elope for the week. We had a great time (minus the broken back window, sorry Patricia!) Patricia provided everything that we could need - folding chairs, pot, pan, silverware, utensils, paper towels, toilet paper, sleeping bags, pillows, fans, towels...! Patricia was so easy to communicate with and very understanding. Would definitely rent Buttercup again!

Our 10day dispersed and primitive camping tour with this car was truely a great and memorable experience. We enjoyed the special camping feeling very much, and got quite often into nice conversations with other people about this VW model. It was nice to have the opportunity to drive that kind of car after 30 years again :)

Having grown up with "Westys" it was a treat to relive the joys of old-school camper-van living on our adventure to Yosemite with Buttercup. The powerful retrofit engine in Buttercup made getting to and from the park a breeze--we got up and over all the steep passes with ease. And the camper has everything you'll need (plus more) thanks to Patricia's thoughtful preparation and stocking of supplies and amenities.

Patricia was wonderful to communicate with - she was super helpful and down to earth. You can tell she really loves Buttercup and has taken such great care of her. We had everything we needed with Buttercup's set-up and so many little extras like a flashlight, a fan, chairs etc. It was absolutely a dream ride with a vintage feel. We are Westie converts after riding in Buttercup! We're going to miss her!

We loved taking Buttercup to the High Sierra! She kept us warm and dry despite rain and a morning low of 36 degrees! The high pop top made it so easy to swap out jeans for swim suits when the sun came out! The bed was comfy and the stove worked like a charm! The Subaru engine purred like a kitten even up over Donner Summit! We hope to rent her for another roadtrip soon!

Patricia was great - charming and very helpful! We just loved driving around in Buttercup, so much that I really want to have one of these great VW campers. You get very friendly reactions from people on the road, too. The Subaru engine was terrific, really nice to drive. If we don't give 100% it's only because with a 1982 vehicle it's obvious that it's not totally perfect, ie the gearshift is not super precise and the suspension doesn't like uneven roads, it's a bit hard. But these are details, our overall experience was wonderful - so many thanks to both Patricia and Outdoorsy for making a great CA experience for us possible (ps the Fall colours were amazing, too!)

We had the best time traveling with Buttercup! We drove down to the Big Sur and Buttercup drove great. Patricia was very quick to respond to any needs or questions that we had. She even had camp chairs, towels, blanket, sleeping bags, pillows, and a deck of cards that we enjoyed using. Would definitely recommend and would love to travel with Buttercup again. This is a perfect way to see the coast of California on a budget :)

Patricia a été très accommodante et nous avions toujours une réponse rapide à nos questions. Le Westfalia était propre et agréable à conduire. Toutefois, l’indicateur à essence ne fonctionne pas ce qui occasionne plusieurs arrêts pour l’essence. Aussi, le réfrigérateur fonctionne à l’occasion, ce qui fut désagréable puisque nous avions prévu nous faire des repas lors de notre roadtrip.

We had a great little weekend getaway with Buttercup. Pickup was easy and relaxed. As first time campervan drivers we took it for a little spin around the block to get used to the engine, manual gearbox and the steering. You get used to the lack of power steering but it does make manoeuvering and parking quite tricky. The engine is good and powerful though so it's a good drive overall.
We moved around a lot in 3 days and really enjoyed the freedom of the campervan lifestyle. Buttercup is very comfortable to sleep in and easy to pack up and get back on the road. On the last day we attended a barbecue and Buttercup acted as a mobile DJ soundsystem much to everyone's joy. She has many hidden talents.
One hiccup is that the fuel gauge and mileometer both don't work so you have to keep tally of your mileage to make sure you don't run out of fuel!
We would recommend Buttercup to anyone who is comfortable driving a stickshift van and wants a willing companion for their adventures!

My girlfriend and I picked up this beauty from Patricia's house (she let us park our car at her house, too!) and drove around some Big Sur state parks for a few days. We parked the van, popped the top and had lunches along side breathtaking California coastal views.
