1984 Volkswagen Westfalia - The Pearl

This is a delightful camper van that will transport you back to the 80s and leave you grinning ear to ear.

A couple of notes about the van to be sure you know what you're getting. There are 3 specific disclaimers and 1 general one:

1. The fridge does not work, i.e. stay cold. It's air tight, so stores dry food well. As such, we are including a Yeti cooler with the rental. We use this on our family trips and it works better and has more room than the fridge.

2. The ceiling of the pop-top is stained from previous mold. We have scrubbed the entire thing with bleach, so there isn't any living mold now. It looks strange, but it's safe. Our kids sleep in the upper bed.

3. The pop-top leaks a little water in the rear passenger side when the van is parked facing uphill and in a big downpour. The easy solution is to park facing downhill (even small decline) if there is a storm. We've slept in it this way and stayed dry.

In general, this is a classic 80s VW van experience. It's like it came through a time-warp. The parts are worn. There's a little dust in some corners. It smells like a combination of van from the 80s and sage. It's wonderful. If you want to have the classic VW camper van experience, this is your van. Throw on some Dire Straights (iphone hook-up included), make some tea on the stove, and chillll.
