Recommended RV Campgrounds and Attractions around Columbus, OH
A few miles east of Springfield, Ohio, is located the beautiful and well cared for Buck Creek State Park, with lovely green lawns affording plenty of space between the camping sites. Suitable for both RV access and tented camping, the campground at Buck Creek State Park offers plumbed restrooms with hot showers, a laundry, hookups with 30 amp electric, and a family friendly environment where pets are also allowed. A big rig will be able to get in here, but unfortunately there are no pull throughs, although the pads are blacktop and mostly level, and some of the sites are really close to the lake. Plenty of shade, beach access, a boat ramp and marina, plus walking and biking trails make for a pleasant outdoor stay, whether you're here for a night, or for a whole season. The sites are very secluded and quiet, and the park is well maintained.
Just a few miles west of Columbus lies the beautiful and tranquil Alton RV Park. With 35 full hook-ups for your RV, you can enjoy sewer, water, and electrical amenities on a spacious campground with lovely flowers and healthy green grasses. Pets are welcome as long as they are well-behaved, which means your entire family can enjoy the peaceful luxury this 3-acre park has to offer. Shower and restroom facilities are also available on-site, so after a day of exploring the nearby city, you can refresh yourself with ease. Satellite connection is reliable so you can enjoy the modern luxuries of home you miss for a truly relaxing day. With a friendly staff and easy daily, weekly, or monthly rates you can take advantage of, you can spend a whole season at this RV park making new friends and taking in the unique scenery. Free Wi-Fi seals the deal for comfort.
Anthony Chabot Regional Park is a good choice of site if you are looking to park up somewhere quiet and peaceful, with lots of opportunities for outdoor activities, and yet within easy reach of the San Francisco bay area. The East Bay Skyline National Trail is just one of a number of trails that can be accessed from the park, and runs its length, giving visitors the opportunity to do some hiking or cycling on those in-between days when you are thinking about the next major destination to explore. Lake Chabot itself is also an attraction here, and is a focal point in the park. The RV site itself has sewer, electric and water, is family and pet friendly, and offers pull-thru sites. Tent camping is offered as well as RV parking, and the site is open year-round, so if you are holidaying out of season, you can still explore the extensive network of trails that run through the park.
