Discover Delaware

The Great Outdoors

Delaware sits between Ohio’s Till Plains and the Appalachian Plateau, placing it among some of Central Ohio’s best nature parks. Many nearby parks are located along local rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, making them great destinations for hiking, camping, and water recreation. Delaware State Park is just north of the city and features densely wooded trails and expansive meadows along the Delaware Reservoir. This park also features a host of recreational activities, including an archery range, boating, and wintertime activities. Alum Creek State Park is also within Delaware city limits, offering access to the massive Alum Creek Reservoir. Boating and swimming are incredibly popular on this reservoir, and visitors can also hike, ride horseback, and engage in historical education opportunities.

Many of Delaware’s parks focus on the history of the area as the traditional home of the Delaware Native American tribe. The Olentangy Indian Caverns offers tours of ancient caverns that the tribe used to inhabit, but it is only accessible during summer months. Visitors to the caverns can spelunk through them while viewing artifacts from the area. Then, head to Gallant Farm with the Delaware rental motorhome to travel to a Depression-era farm, which features period architecture, farming demonstrations, and furnishings as well as lively interpreters who educate visitors on the history of the farm. Natural history fans should head to Hogback Ridge Park, which hosts exhibits about the wildlife native to the area. When book an RV rental in Delaware, you’ll be able to experience the scenery and history of Central Ohio.
