Information About Junction City, OR
Junction City is a town located in Lane County, OR. It is a small town of approximately six thousand residents, living in a mostly rural area. It was named ‘Junction City’ by a railroad magnate Ben Holladay who planned to erect a railroad stop and thus connect the railroad coming from the west side and the east side from Willamette Valley. However, the west part of the railroad was not constructed according to Ben Holladay’s projects, so for a brief time Junction City was not a junction at all, but a stop. Later, though, the two main branches of Route 99, which divided Portland in half, reunited in Junction City and the town once again lived up to its name.
If you decide to book an RV rental near Junction City, you could be expecting a moderate and dry climate during summer and mild winter.

The Great Outdoors
Home to the Scandinavian Festival, Junction City can offer quite a spectacle for anyone, regardless of whether you are knowledgeable in the awe-inspiring Viking culture or you simply wish to satisfy your curiosity. The annual event is one of the longest-running festivals in Oregon. You can participate in the festivities and dance with folk dancers or observe how handcrafted tools are made, similar to the ones the Vikings used, and much more. Many ensembles come from nearby cities, like Portland, or Seattle and do their best to show you the original Scandinavian dances. The festival is held in August and lasts for four days; each day is dedicated to one of the four Scandinavian countries – Norwegian Day, Swedish Day, Danish Day and Finnish Day, so you will see a large variety of culture, foods, and items being brought each day. Along with Vikings strolling around the town, you will also be able to witness various creatures from Norse mythology – trolls, elves, and even Valkyries. Worth mentioning is that there is neither entry fee nor entertainment fee if you wish to attend the festival, as visitors only pay for food, beverages, and crafted items they wish to purchase as souvenirs. It is a festival filled with various attractions you should not miss if you are coming to Junction City!
