Pennsylvania is home to McConnell’s Mill State Park, a 2546-acre park that is a part of the gorgeous Slippery Rock Creek Gorge, a National Natural Landmark. Located in the Perry and Slippery Rock Townships in the city of Portersville, the state park is situated along the Slippery Rock Creek, southwest of the intersection of US 422 and US 19.

Ideal for a motorhome camping trip, the state park is very close to the border of Ohio and attracts visitors from the neighboring state as well. Renting an RV is a preferred way of moving around this area, and you’ll find a range of affordable RV rentals in Lawrence County. Not too far from the state park is New Castle and Butler that you could include a visit to when in the area.

The great outdoors are spectacular at McConnell’s Mill State Park. While the gorge was created out of the draining of several glacial lakes, thousands of years ago, it formed incredibly steep sides while the valley floor is strewn with several massive boulders. Filled with natural features including the scenic gorge, waterfalls, rugged hiking trails, and a whitewater creek - the park is a delight for any outdoor enthusiast. Camping at McConnell’s Mill State Park opens up a range of outdoor recreation activities that make for a very compelling camping trip!
