Owner rules

  • Pet friendly
  • No music festivals
  • Tailgating not allowed
  • No smoking

You've seen those instagram pictures of people hanging out on the roof of a van - you can't do that on this one because there is no roof rack.
No smoking. If I detect any evidence of smoking or vaping in vehicle, I will deduct $200 from your security deposit.
Outside cleaning: I expect that you will rinse the van and undercarriage off thoroughly. I will charge $30 if the undercarriage is muddy - that is what the car wash costs me to use.

PhreD - 2017 Ford Transit 4x4 4-season camper

Have a question?Get answers directly from the owner

Q.Where the heck is Salida, CO and why is it worth picking up your van there?
A.
Yeah, you probably can rent a van in Denver a little easier, but you probably can't rent a cool 4x4 van at anywhere near this price. Salida, located on the Arkansas river in a county that has 12 peaks higher than 14,000 feet, is regularly mentioned as a fantastic place to live by Outside and Sunset magazines. We can live anywhere in the world and we chose Salida. It is a vacation destination on its own - outdoors (hiking, biking, skiing, rafting, fishing), arts, and friendly people.

Q.What does 4-season camper mean?
A.
This van was built with winter camping in mind. It has two auxiliary heaters. You can be comfortable down to about -10 degrees F. You might need to wear socks though. The water system can be used year round too, provided that you leave the heater on low when you're away from the van.

Q.Can I go on 4x4 trails?
A.
You can go on regular forest service dirt roads and some of Colorado's mellower mountain passes. It is not meant to go "four wheeling" or "rock-crawling" - no 8500 pound vehicle is.

Q.Is your van easy to drive?
A.
Yes. While it looks big, it is about the size of a Ford F150 pickup truck (about 18 feet long). You can squeeze into standard parking places. You sit up high as you drive and that is kind of neat. What you CAN"T DO is go through the drive in at a fast food place - the van is about 9.5 feet tall.
