Recent reviews: "We rented the Marin Mountaineer for a weekend getaway to Big Sur. We had an amazing time and the van made it such a special experience! We had never camped in a van before, but had long wanted to try one out. Getting everything set up was a breeze: popped the top, made the bed and we were ready for cooking and the campfire within about 15 minutes of arriving. It is so nice to have the comfort of a mattress, but still have the airy feel of tent camping with the pop top. Working with GoCamp to arrange our rental was a breeze. Deborah went above and beyond to make sure we had all the information we needed and our pickup and drop-off went smoothly. Jim, the van's owner, was so helpful and pleasant! We communicated before hand to figure out a convenient meeting place and he was so great about showing us how everything in the van worked and making sure we had all the supplies we needed. He even texted later just to check in and make sure we got to the campsite ok :) Overall it was an awesome weekend - thank you GoCamp!" Marin Mountaineer is a 5 speed VW manual transmission professionally paired to a TDI 4 cylinder Diesel engine so drivers must be comfortable with a stick shift and familiar with the power nuances of manual shift, low torque turbo diesel engines. The vehicle averages 30+ MPG and has approximately 6k mi on the new diesel conversion. It's the most reliable powertrain setup for a VW campervan if treated properly and maintained.
