The van was everything we expected and more! Our week long trip was accompanied by the comfort and convenience of staying in a fully stocked camper van. James was extremely responsive and acccomodating to our multiple changes in scheduling.

"Winter" is an awesome camper van! We enjoyed taking this well-outfitted and easy-to-drive van on a one week adventure with our 2 dogs. James is very easy-going and very responsive. Winter drives straight, is comfortable for long drives, has plenty of power, and has more than enough storage. The built-in AT&T Wi-Fi was handy, as we have Verizon, and there were times only one of the two would have a connection. Having filtered drinking water on board is golden. We enjoyed Winter so much, we are talking about buying one just like it!

We rented the van for two weeks for our elopement, and it didn’t feel like a van at all, it felt like a cozy home on wheels. The pickup location was convenient, and the bed was super comfy, especially for our height (around 5' to 5'2").

The only downfall for us is that we are tall, so the bed was too short for us, but that isn’t James fault, just something we should have checked beforehand and something I’m mentioning here in case your a couple that’s taller than 5’7”. Otherwise we had a fantastic time and enjoyed our rental experience. Thank you James!

For my husband and I, this was our first camper van trip. The accommodation of the pick up and the return made the trip so smooth, it gives us enough time to plan and arrange things in. The response time to any question were timely and helped a lot. The van was easy to use and it had everything we needed. It also accommodated our little pups which was a plus and the unlimited mileage made our plans happen. The van was easy to drive to any views and fits in most parking spaces. We will rent it again in the future and will recommend it to our friends and family. 💚

Our trip was more of a reset for my wife and I. We rented a van who's owner allowed dogs, so we also brought our 85lb black lab as well. A Ram 2500 fully loaded conversion van, with a 2 burner stove, working sink, small fridge, shower, porto-pot, and wi-fi was our vehicle for eight days.
We started in San Jose CA and drove north on the 5 to Seattle. It being in the middle of winter we encountered rain and fog. Fortunately for us, we did not have any snow on the road. Although the van owner provided me with chains, I purchased a set of much higher quality, just in case. Once we were driving in the Siskiyou mountains, it was immediately evident that the vehicle needed new wipers. I have no idea how I got us to Yreka, but we stopped and traded the old crusty wipper blades out for new Rain-X. Immediate difference. We made Eugene OR, the next day after staying the night in some po-dunk truck stop town to quell the nerves my wife was enduring. From Eugene, we headed to Vashon Island WA where we stayed a couple of days with some old friends. We took the 9'+ tall van on the ferry and low and behold, were able to enjoy a short trip across the beautiful Sound. My pics depict one of 125 Trolls built by Thomas Dambo. He has built these sculptures in more that 5 different countries, 6 being in the great Pacific NW.
From Vashon we traveled south to Centralia WA, and from there Astoria, Grants Pass, and then home. I gave the trip a 4 star, only because of the safety hazard of the wipers. In all we had a wonderfully cold experience camping in an Outdoorsy rental van. Thank you Outdoorsy, and we are already thinking about the planning of our next adventure.

We can’t wait to rent this camper van again. It was our first time renting a van and it was a great experience . The walk through was very clear and the communication with James was stellar. The van has everything that you need and it was very clean and comfortable. They’re dog friendly and even offer a dog seatbelt. Would definitely recommend.

James is an exceptional communicator. Quick to respond to any of my planning questions. Some items that may help with your trip planning. We took the Van to Yosemite and timed the Waterfalls perfectly. The Van had enough Solar/Battery to survive 4 days parked on the Valley Floor without needing to run the engine. We skipped using the hot water heater or the heater to preserve the battery - not sure it was necessary. If you go to Yosemite in the Spring, I recommend taking Bikes as the shuttle service is spotty. Currently, the van does not have a bike rack but it does have a hitch so that may be something you could add with James help. I am glad I printed the handbook James has on his Husky Vans Website so I could reference many helpful systems tips - the delivery day is hectic so having a written copy of what James reviewed came in handy. Thanks again James for a memorable and fun vacation in Sunny Ca!

The van is in great shape, very well appointed, and cozy. It’s thoughtfully designed and built for maximum comfort and joy! It was cold and windy on our trip but van was warm enough for us not to turn on the heater. And James is a great communicator and easy going! We’ll definitely rent the Husky van again.

The van was great but the only problem was an extreme gas smell that occurred off and on while driving right on day one, but extreme during the usage of the heater which we then used only about 2 hours because of the smell. Caused headaches and wheezing. So because of the extreme cold we spent most nights in a hotel. James was great.

James & WinterVan don't need more 5-star reviews but they absolutely deserve it! James was very prompt & clear in all communications pre- & during the trip. The campervan is a real joy to drive & live in for over a week - well-equipped kitchenette, comfy mattress & duvet, picnic floor mat, picnic table mat (a very nice one too!), hammock, and LED fairy lights for an extra nice touch! The little things matter :) It was for us an amazing road trip to Yosemite, SeKi, and up & down the coast, made even more epic by the sweet ride that is WinterVan. We lucked out with this rental, will be looking back with only the fondest memories!

This van is terrific! This was my first van camping experience, and James and his van made the trip a huge success. The van was easier to drive than I expected -- it did not feel much wider than a car, although you need to be aware that the ladder sticks out a bit. The visibility is excellent with the side mirrors, I did not miss having a rear view mirror at all. I took the van on narrow winding Highway 1 in Sonoma County and it handled very well. The van is equipped with everything you need for a self contained camping experience. A huge amount of fresh water for a van this size, a toilet that is easy to operate and empty, plenty of solar panels to keep the battery full, a super comfortable bed, a wi-fi booster that turned 2-3 bars of ATT into a fast enough service to stream movies. In the kitchen, the sink and faucets are high quality, the fridge kept everything just the right temperature. I didn't use the stove much as most of my cooking just needed hot water which I boiled in an electric kettle I brought. Also, James provided 2 very comfortable sturdy reclining camp chairs and all the little things for inside the van: TP, paper towels, dish and hand soap, 2 trash cans and bags. As many here have noted, James' communication was excellent and super responsive, and he really cares that the renters of his van have a good experience with no troubles. James' van will be my first choice for booking in the future. The only problem is that his van is so great that it's hard to find a slot to book!

Just dropped the van back off to James. He was so easy to communicate with, any question we texted him got an immediate response. The van was clean and included everything we could have wanted. We traveled up the coast on Hwy 1 to Oregon, hiking thru the Redwoods. . It was easy to drive and park. We would recommend James and his van to our friends.

Literally had the best time ever on our first time trip on a camper van ! Loved how it had pretty much everything we needed such as spices , cooking spray , a super comfortable bed , and a coffee machine. Amazing experience, perfect vehicle for away trips, near and far. Very well maintained with lots of great touches that include great things like fresh bedding, garbage bags, camp chairs, etc. Diesel heater works great for cold nights, down to 15F, and bedding is warm. I brought my own sheets but the mattress and pillows made for a great night sleep. Camp toilet and shower work great. Drives really well, good traction even in light snow (M+S tires). Covered all of this, in late winter with the van (early March): Mt Shasta, Crater Lake, Lava Beds, Las Vegas, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, and Yosemite. Camped in each area, usually KOA or park campgrounds. Van was perfect for such a road trip, slept better in it than in a hotel room. Great time, thank you!!

What an amazing experience. James and his family have created an incredible home away from home in this van. We camped in Napa and had everything we needed even without hookups. The Husky Van is equipped with an inverter, Wi-Fi, all the water you need, a gas stove, a fully stocked kitchen, and a super comfy bed. We loved our trip so much and can’t wait to rent again!

Our first time experience in a camper van was perfect! The diesel heater made our 'winter camping' not only possible but also comfortable! I love the unlimited miles because we were able to take the slower/longer routes such as Highway 1 & 9 to get to our destinations in southern coastal cities. I love that his van has huge windows on the sliding door and rear doors because we could still enjoy a scenic view without the need to open them (since it was cold). We still however opened the rear doors a couple of times once we got a good private spot in front of the beach and waited until the has set. Cooking in the van was great too because it was a gas cooktop and everything I needed was there. Love that the TV has Netflix and other apps. James was very easy to communicate with and was very understanding when we ran into mishaps. You can pretty much expect an instant reply which was great for us since we were campervan newbies. I could not recommend renting from him more!

This was our first time trying out a camper van and it was an amazing, wonderful experience. The camper van was in perfect condition. It was extremely clean and every comfort you could imagine was there for you. It has a good size sink and faucet, a great gas burner, a refrigerator, toilet and shower. It had a Thule container for extra storage on top of the van, two chairs, a side table and an awning. The water pressure was very good. Some of my favorite features were the white shiplapped walls, lighting and dimmers, swivel passenger chair and extra counter space. If I could give more than five stars I would - it was that good! Thank you James for allowing us to rent your camper van. We will definitely do this again!

My wife and I had SO much fun with the Campervan! It was much easier to drive then I expected and the diesel heater came in clutch when we were sleeping in 30 degree weather! The bed is pretty short in length - I’m 5’8” and barely was able to lay straight but the bed itself is extremely comfortable. Lastly and most importantly, James was amazing to work with. He was very responsive to all of my questions and even brought my sunglasses to me after I forgot them in the van!

Our first experience renting a camper van was great overall… James is one of the best hosts out there, very accommodating, the van is fully equipped and all the essentials for a great trip. It was very nice to have the set of lounge chairs and we got lots of compliments along our trip. The bed was super comfortable especially after a day playing in the beach. He even provided our puppy a nice bed and that definitely made her more comfortable for the bumpy ride. James is always quick to reply with any questions we had. We would rent again from him!

James is very nice and easy to work with. When we had to end the rental early due to the 5ft 5in length of the bed, he refunded our remaining 2 nights. The van is very nicely equipped and drives and backs easily. You need to consider how much you are bringing due to storage constraints- the Thule box on on the roof is great for lighter items. One less desirable design feature- refrigerator is under the bench seat which is hard to lift, but holds 3-days of perishables and stays very cold. Stove is great, kitchenware decent (you need to bring plates and glasses), wifi and TV amazing, heater more than adequate if needed. Toilet in shower is cramped but easy to flush and odorless. Easy hookup of power and water, we didnt use the sewer but long hose for that. Great van if the bed works for you.

We wanted to experience a sliver of van life, and there was no better way than going with James and Husky Vans. The van itself has delightful personal touches, built by James himself, and was really the right balance for us and our dog for a weeklong trip down the Central Coast of California. We have a fondness for camping and the great outdoors, but a pregnant lady does much better with a real bed and a toilet to use in the middle of the night. We made plenty of use of the kitchenette, appreciated the garage space in the rear, and the added assurance of solar energy. The best part was meeting James and his wonderful wife and hearing about their own adventures.

This was my very first RV rental ever. I searched for alot of different ones and decided I would go for a newer converted van, a smaller size from the other Class B or C vehicles. The amenities of a toilet and shower in this size vehicle was a bonus. (Although I did not use the shower.)
