Say hello to Murphy, our custom VW Vanagon. He’s a classic ‘87 camper that we’ve insulated, upgraded with a few luxuries, and as always — stocked full of top notch camping gear.Open the sliding door to discover a clean, customized interior with upgraded LED lighting, hardwood floors, cedar paneling, and much more. Murphy boasts brand new speakers for great sound and a Bluetooth enabled stereo that lets you connect your iPhone/Android device for the perfect road trip soundtrack. Additional upgrades include an auxiliary battery that powers the lighting and your electric devices so that you can go for days at a time without worry of draining the starting battery. It’s great to get outside and unplug but, especially if you’re a photographer, it’s nice to be able to charge a camera/laptop battery or two on the road. We've also added an ARB awning to provide a little shelter from the sun.With a classic color and that timeless Volkswagen style, Murphy is sure to turn heads while you're on the road! Pro tip: If you pass another VW, be sure to wave. Peace signs, shakas, and the always classic rock on formations work best ( | | ), but any old gesture will do. It’s a tradition amongst VW van drivers like you :)Murphy is great for cruising around the Central Coast and taking in all of the natural beauty this area has to offer. The van is located in Morro Bay, California. It’s a perfect jump off point to places like Big Sur, Pinnacles National Park and so much more. We’re minutes away from Morro Bay State Park, Montana De Oro State Park, and all of the other incredible spots around SLO, Monterey & Santa Barbara counties.This is the “Camper” version of the Vanagon; it sleeps four people in two full sized beds (two up in the Pop Top, two below). This is a classic, super cool Vanagon with a manual transmission, so drivers should be comfortable with a stick shift.

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
To accommodate any changes in your schedule, we allow self-service pick up and drop off from 5:00am - 10:00pm on the day of your reservation. This makes it easy for you to grab your van and return it when it’s the most convenient. Your van will be ready with a full tank of gas, our premium camping gear, any add ons you selected for your rental, and maybe even a “Slocal” treat from one of our favorite local bakeries :)
Q.What comes with a rental?

Everything we include is premium camping gear that we’ve come to know and love when we take our own trips. There’s so much great camping gear these days so we spent some money on the good stuff! Most rental companies charge extra for the gear we include. That’s something to consider when shopping around :)
Q.How many people fit?
A.
Our VW Vanagon, Murphy, has five seatbelts and can sleep up to four people (two down below and two in the “pop top”).
Most of our renters are couples, but two adults and two children sleep comfortably in one van. Four adults is a little snug, but we do it all the time. You can also rent or bring an extra tent, too.
Q.Where can I go?
A.
Anywhere in the great state of California, with a couple exceptions. We do ask that you stick to the pavement and maintained dirt roads — your insurance won’t cover you elsewhere, and rough roads are very hard on these vehicles. Burning man festival is off limits. Death Valley is also off limits.
