Under our program, customers receive get a credit for each mile they travel in one of our motorhomes. If the price of regular unleaded gasoline climbs between the time they make their reservation, and they day they depart on their trip, we will compensate our customer for the cost increase.
Southeast Arizona RV Rentals estimates the units in its fleet, primarily Class C motorhomes, average 9 miles per gallon. That means, when gas costs $3 a gallon, it costs 33 cents to drive the RV one mile.
If, for example, based on AAA National Gas Average ~ the average price of regular unleaded gas climbs to $3.60 a gallon, then it costs .40 cents per mile to drive the RV , or 7 cents more per mile.
So, in this example, if our customer drives the Motorhome 2,000 miles then we would refund the customer $140 credit against the total rental cost because of the 7 cents a mile savings offered under the program.
“We are trying to take some of the uncertainty out of renting an RV,” said Paul McGahee, Manager for Southeast Arizona RV Rentals. “This program will keep costs down and means people won’t have to limit travel plans.”
