Meet your host, RV ENVY

Member since 2021

We developed "RV Envy" while touring as an indie-rock duo in the early 2000's. Pulling a 5 x 8 cargo trailer that only housed our instruments, we would sleep either in the back of our SUV or a tent at various KOAs and campgrounds across the US. We became aware of how great it might be to one day have a towable mini-cabin and put the instruments in the SUV! Then we started noticing the various options there were for these smaller towables including: Airstream Bambi, T@B, and all the vintage trailers (Shasta, Fireball, Aristocrat, etc.) Fast forward to now, we have 2 small children and 2 dogs, and we want to show them our favorite spots found while on the road in our 20s. We acquired a 1960s Aristocrat in need of some updating and let our collective dreams from 20 years and Angel's building skills go to work. Once Incognito was finished, Angel's parents came to stay with us for 6 weeks - in the trailer parked outside our patio door! As our ultimate test subjects they offered 1 or 2 suggestions but mostly stayed in what they called "the cabin" so happily, sometimes not emerging from its cozy space until noon.
We took Incognito on 2 trips in April; first to a large RV park called, Flying Flags, in Buellton, and then to a Hip Camp site on a horse rescue, south of Temecula called, Saddle Up Ranch. In our opinion, Incognito makes more sense at the sparsely populated Hip Camp style site as opposed to the RV park where we felt dwarfed by a different style of RVing. Having the electrical hook-up is nice for being able to use the appliances but at the ranch we happily dry-camped without them for 4 days without leaving the site. For our next trips, we look forward to venturing North to Big Sur, East to Joshua Tree and beyond...
