Addison, named after a postmaster, was first settled in 1846. This town is an unique mix of commercial and suburban, and as a result, is well known for its nightlife scene. This is in part due to the town’s relaxed rules allowing restaurants to serve alcohol by the drink, while the nearby municipalities do not. Addison also hosts special events 22 weekends out of the year, and the Addison Circle Park is a popular venue for seasonal events, such as Oktoberfest and “Fork and Cork” for the foodie fans.

The closest large town is Dallas, about 15 miles to the south. Fort Worth is 40 miles to the southwest.

Discover Addison

The Great Outdoors

Lewisville Lake is a terrific destination for the outdoors men. Several parks along its coastline are RV-friendly so park your Addison camper rental in a spot and head out to the great outdoors!

The Hidden Cove Park, on one of the “fingers” of the lake, offers nearly 500 acres for hiking, camping, skiing, and fishing and boating, of course. There are boat and kayak rentals, and an on-site restaurant dishing out burgers, should your fishing efforts not pan out.

There are seven main species of fish found at the lake (though more can occasionally be found): largemouth bass, spotted bass, white and hybrid striped bass, white crappie, and blue and channel catfish.

A little farther north, Ray Roberts Lake State Park in Denton has miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding, and parts of the trails are paved, suitable for rollerblading, skateboarding, and biking. The marina also sells fuel, fishing license, and rents boat slips. This park also offers RV-friendly parking, suitable for your Addison motorhome rental.

For a quick escape from the city scene, visit the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. This 200-acre park provides miles of hiking and biking trails and off-road bike trails. It surprisingly offers WiFi, though the signal may be spotty in some areas. The observation tower provides a spectacular view of Dallas skyline. This park is pet-friendly, however, don't forget the leash.

When you rent a motorhome in Addison, you’ll need somewhere to park it for the night or a few days. The Addison area caters to out-of-town visitors.

Sandy Lakes MH and RV Resort located in Carrollton, is across from the old-fashioned Sandy Lake Amusement Park. It offers amenities such as a dog park, waterfront access for boating and fishing, restroom and showers and laundry facilities.

For a more rustic option, consider the Hidden Cove Park and Marina. Not all of its lots offer sewer access, but all sites provide full hookups for your RV. Showers and restrooms are available as well.

Stewart Creek Park Campgrounds, located in Lake Lewisville, is also a good candidate, offering 30/50 amps for your RV and water hookup.

Should you need a quick overnight stay. Consider Walmart, larger grocery stores, or truck stops. There are several Walmarts within a 10-mile area and camping may be allowed at these locations. Just check with the manager before settling in for the evening.
