Buda is located in Hays County, about fifteen miles South to Southwest of Texas’ capital city of Austin and 65 miles North to Northeast of San Antonio. It’s a relatively small town of roughly fifteen to twenty thousand inhabitants. Considered a suburb of Austin, this little city continues to grow. Buda hasn’t always been Buda. In the 19th century, the International-Great Northern Railroad made plans to extend the railroad from Austin to San Antonio, and as a result, a small settlement sprang up along the railroad by the name of Du Pre. After the addition of a railstop, small businesses sprang up quickly, as did a post office. Not long after establishing a postal service in Du Pre, the United States Postal Service realized that another town had been founded bearing the same name before this one, so they requested that the town change the name. That is when, in 1887, the name of the town was changed to Buda, a somewhat corrupted derivative from the Spanish word for widow, viuda, paying homage to widows who worked in the town’s hotel.

Book an RV rental in Buda and open the doors to the many attractions that this Austin suburb has to offer. Escape the everyday rush of the capital and enjoy various outdoor activities and frequent festivals just outside of the city limits. Also, nearby towns of Kyle, Manchaca and of course Austin, are other prime spots to visit with your Buda RV rental. If you are hoping to experience the great outdoors and take in views of the picturesque setting that Buda has to offer, or maybe make some friends at one of the fun festivals, pack your bags and head for the road!

Discover Buda

The Great Outdoors

A Buda motorhome rental is the perfect homebase in this city that caters to outdoor enthusiasts. Famously named ‘’The Outdoor Capital of Texas’’, and rightly so, Buda boasts tons of recreational places to visit. The Historic Stagecoach Park spans more than 50 acres and features trails and scenic trails carefully cut through it. Buda City Park is the place to go to get in on some fantastic events and festivals. There are also ten other designated scenic parks and vibrant natural wildflower meadows.

This outdoorsy oriented city is also a great place to go with your Buda camper rental if you’re looking to get involved with some fishing. The Bradfield Village Park offers two fishing ponds where you can throw your hooks in and enjoy the breeze as it drifts across the water. Wait long enough and you might just snag a Blue or Channel Catfish looking for a bite of bait. Fishing isn’t all this park has to offer. Other amenities include picnic tables, barbeque pits and a playground for the kids along for the ride. If you happen to be on the Buda travel trailer rental trip in June, check out the Buda Fun Fish for some family-friendly fishing.

City Attractions

To really take in the spirit of the town, there are several places and festivals that a Buda RV rental visitor should experience. The Buda Lions Country Fair & Weiner Dog Races are usually scheduled for the last weekend of April and offer tons of fun activities. Witness a barbeque cook-off, a bake-off and even a best-dressed dog contest, all culminating with the nationally known Weiner Dog Races. Come and cheer for your favorite!

Another great recurring event organized in Buda is Movies in the Park, held every Friday in June. It’s an open-air cinema, affording the opportunity to take in a movie under the stars. Seating is rustic, on the grass or concrete, so make sure you bring some chairs and blankets for comfort and convenience.

Also, the Fajita Fiesta must be mentioned here. This fun fiesta offers a jalapeno eating contest, a cook-off and a spicy, tasty blend of music, foods, and cultures.

RV Parks

There is a well-situated RV park within the town itself, the Crestview RV Park. Offering around one hundred campsites mostly situated in the shade, it is a great place to park your RV rental in Buda. This park is also pet-friendly, so you don’t have to worry about your furry family member being bored at home while you’re out traversing the terrain with your motorhome rental in Buda. The town also has a Walmart Supercenter, and since it is located near Route I-35, it has gas stations to cater to big rigs, smaller vehicles, and of course, Buda RV rentals.

Another local RV park is the Longhorn RV Resort, located just eight miles Southeast of Buda. Located next to a peaceful lake, it boasts a serene atmosphere designed to be a getaway from the everyday rush. Here you can enjoy some good, rustic Texan wine, live music, and open skies and wildlife in abundance. The resort is also pet-friendly and offers large dog parks for your pets. The resort offers kayak or canoe rentals so their visitors can explore the fantastic lake and even throw in a hook!

About nine miles Northeast, the Austin Lone Star RV Resort offers a little bit of both worlds. It’s near the fast-paced city of Austin but still close to the laidback town of Buda. The sites are separated nicely, so you have some privacy while still being pretty close to the neighbors. The resort is also pet-friendly, so no need to leave the pets behind.

A city that’s easily accessible by vehicle, bicycle or on foot, Buda’s definitely a place to park the RV rental and get out and explore.  Search for an RV rental in Buda and get ready to soak in the culture of this fun, relaxed city outside of Austin.
