Deer Park, a large city, located in Harris County, is a unique area in Texas. It was first incorporated in 1948 and was named by Simeon West, a farmer, after the many deer that seemed to roam its land. The city was first an important railroad hub but eventually became a booming oil town once this precious liquid was discovered.

The city is located near major Texas cities like Houston and Sugar Land. While it has mild temperatures during the winter, it can get to be very hot and humid during the summer.
