In between the cities of Odessa and Midland, is the small town of Gardendale, Texas. Remnants of the oil industry can be spotted everywhere you look. This sleepy town might not be your conventional vacation destination, but when you book an RV in Gardendale, you’ll have an excellent way to see the nearby cities, as well as the beautiful deserts vistas and canyons that are commonly found in west Texas.

This peculiar community on the outskirts of Odessa has very few places to eat or entertain yourself when you rent an RV, but both Midland and Odessa fill this void quite well. Interstate 20 runs through both nearby cities, enabling you to travel to El Paso in the west, and Dallas to the east.

Experience the Sites and Scenery

While Gardendale has no parks or recreation areas to speak of, there are quite a few in both Odessa and Midland. Better yet, you can take your RV to the farthest reaches of one of the nation’s largest states, and see the diverse and spectacular land within it.

Sherwood Park in Odessa has a little something for everyone: a fantastic playground for small children to play on, a skate park for the daredevils, picnic pavilions for families and friends to share a meal, and athletic fields for fun pickup games. McKinney Park Sprayground is a fun water park for people of all ages to enjoy, providing an easy way to keep yourself cool in the arid Texas heat. Comanche Trail South Park is probably the most interesting park in Odessa, with 3.2 miles of trails, three disc golf courses, and an amazing fishing pond for anglers of all abilities and ages to enjoy.

Monahans Sandhills State Park is only a five-minute drive west on I-20, and worth a visit with the Gardendale camper rental if you enjoy desert scenery. The towering sand dunes will make you feel as though you are in the Sahara Desert, and sand boarding down from the top of said dunes presents a fun and exciting challenge. Franklin Mountains State Park is next to El Paso, and is considered to be the largest park in the country to have the entirety of its boundaries within one city.
