The Great Outdoors

Kerrville campers who don't want to stray far from the park will want to visit Old Tunnel State Park. This park is positioned roughly half an hour's drive east of Old River Road RV Resort and consists of swamps, forests, and meadows. The park is ideal for hiking and nature watching, with a short nature trail that dissects the park. During your walk, watch out for local bird species, including northern cardinals, Cooper's hawks, and downy woodpeckers. One of the main reasons this park is popular is due to the colony of three million free-tailed Mexican bats that live in the park's old tunnel. Between May and October, visitors can pay a small fee and watch this massive colony exit their lair from a viewing platform.If you want to experience more of the Guadalupe River during your Kerrville RV rental vacation, plan a trip to the Guadalupe River State Park. This gorgeous park features verdant forests along the Guadalupe River. It is the perfect spot for a reflective stroll. Over 13 miles of trails lead through the surrounding woodlands to an observation platform that affords stunning views of the river. This section of the river is perfect for watersports, and there's a five-mile-long paddling trail in case you want to explore the park via the water. When mealtime rolls around, grab some food from the park's concession stands and relax at one of the many picnic tables.

Exploring the City

If you want to make the most of your RV rental near Kerrville, make the short drive to neighboring San Antonio. San Antonio exudes culture and history, and one of America's most famous historical attractions, The Alamo, can be found here. This historic fort was built in the 1830s. The Battle of the Alamo took place here during the Texas Revolution. Visitors can tour the fort, learn about the history behind the ill-fated battle, and stand where James Bowie and Davy Crockett once stood.San Antonio is a beautiful city. See the city from above when you visit the Tower of the Americas. This 750-foot-tall tower features an observation deck that boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the San Antonio skyline. For a meal you'll never forget, head all the way to the top of the tower, where you can enjoy a gourmet meal in a revolving restaurant overlooking the city streets. The tower also features historic photos from San Antonio's past and information panels that tell the city's history.San Antonio has some well-respected museums. Art lovers will want to stop by the San Antonio Museum of Art. This art gallery is one of the best in Texas and contains over 30,000 objects and pieces of art from around the world. There's a wide array of work on display, with over 5,000 years of art history to admire, ranging from European to Latin American pieces. Some of the highlights from the museum include an exquisite collection of Wedgwood porcelain and paintings by Winslow Homer.

How does check-in work?

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
