Splashway Waterpark and Campground is located near the small community of Sheridan, TX, in the southeast portion of the state. The nearest larger town is Hallettsville, located less than 20 miles to the west. The nearest large city is the Houston metro area, found around 90 miles to the east. In addition, the Gulf of Mexico is just a little more than 100 miles to the south.The campground is open throughout the year, and some of the campsites are shaded. Pets are welcome here as well, and there is even a dog park on the grounds. Full hookups are also available, and the park can accommodate varying sizes of RVs. It also allows for both lengthy and short-term reservations. There is a camp store on-site, though if you can't find what you need there, there are also a few gas stations and grocery stores found nearby. There are several restaurants available locally, as well. With a stay at this family-friendly campground in southeastern Texas, you should have no trouble finding the services your group needs.There is a pond at Splashway Waterpark and Campground, where you can fish, swim or paddle a canoe. Equipment rentals for paddle boats are even available. There is also a field to play laser tag, a putt-putt golf course, and an area for pedal carts. Playgrounds for the kids are provided, as are game courts and large games such as Mega Chess. A laundry room, bathrooms, and showers are also made available for guests. The Great Outdoors

As this locale's name would imply, it also offers a large waterpark. There are numerous waterslides and pools available here. There are also tubing rides, a lazy river, and a waterfall to relax under. The park is divided into sections that appeal to different age groups, from a very young child to an adult. Restaurants and gift shops are also available if you find yourself hungry or are looking for souvenirs of your trip.There are several parks available nearby, where your family can just enjoy being outside. Both Riverside Park and Coleto Creek Park and Reservoir are found in the nearby town of Victoria. Walking and hiking paths, playgrounds, and places to enjoy a picnic lunch can all be found in these areas. They even offer water access for fishing, swimming or paddle sports on local lakes and waterways. These attractions can provide shade, as well, and make for great places to escape the frequent heat of the Texas sun.The Victoria Paddling Trail is also located near that town. It is found on the nearby, Guadalupe River and kayaks and canoes are offered for rent. This is a great, relaxing way to view the area, and it is especially picturesque in the fall when the leaves start to turn. You may be able to view local wildlife from this route as well.

Exploring the Area

Book an RV in Colorado County, TX, and you will find all sorts of interesting sites nearby. There are several unique museums in Columbus, which is only around 30 miles north of the campground. Visit the Santa Claus Museum, one of the only of its kind in the south. An array of figures of the Jolly Old Elf are on display. It is primarily open during the Christmas holiday, but it can be visited at other times of the year if reservations are made in advance. The Confederate Memorial Museum is also located in town. This museum and site are dedicated to the people from the area who fought in the Civil War. RV camping at this campground will put you within easy reach of destinations that everyone you're with will find intriguing.This part of the state is quite rural, so you may have to drive a little to reach some of the attractions you want to check out. It will be worth it, though! The Texas Zoo is in Victoria, about 60 miles to the south. This small locale features critters both local, and those that are not native to North America. Some educational shows are offered, and some of the animals are available for feeding and petting. There is even a train ride to help you view the exhibits.Tour the site of the Indianola Ghost Town, near Victoria. Drive and walk through the remnants of the community, viewing the ruins of some of the buildings. This place has a sad history, as it was once thriving, but was then wiped out by a hurricane in the late 1800s. Originally, it was rebuilt, but after being destroyed by another hurricane a few years later, it was left to be reclaimed by nature.When you've been looking for a quiet place to relax, that also offers plenty to do, consider a campsite at Splashway Waterpark and Campground. Cool off at the nearby waterpark, take a paddle down a local river, or learn about the history of this region from a nearby ghost town or museum.
