Taylor Park Recreation Area

RV camping at Taylor Park is perfect for anglers, with easy access to the water via the on-site boat ramp, plenty of space to fish from the bank, and one of the best locations in eastern Texas for crappie and white bass. You will have to bring your own gear, as there are no rental facilities nearby. If fishing isn't your thing, then maybe try hiking? The Comanche Bluff Hiking Trail starts at the eastern end of the campground and runs for around 6.3 miles along the shoreline. At the western end is a primitive campsite, where you can pitch a tent for free if you are RV camping at Taylor Park. Around halfway along the route is the Trail Museum, plus you pass over a couple of historic bridges along the way. The lake is popular for boating and watersports, with five public boat ramps around the shoreline. Powerboats and personal watercraft such as jet skis are permitted on the lake, but there are no rental facilities at the lake. Dedicated swimming areas are located in Friendship Park and Wilson H. Fox Park. Friendship Park is the largest recreational area on the lake, with excellent fishing from the bank, picnic sites, and a boat ramp. In the nearby town of Taylor is the Taylor Regional Park and Sports Complex. As the name suggests, this park is focussed on sports and has outstanding facilities, including five baseball and five softball fields, two soccer pitches, a football field, basketball courts, and much more. Also, you'll find a 6-acre lake and nature preserve, a fishing pond, picnic and barbecue facilities, and plenty of room to park your rental RV. Just west of the town of Georgetown is Lake Georgetown, a large recreational lake with several parks along the shoreline. The prime recreational use of the 1,200-acre lake is fishing, with good stocks of bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish. Hikers will enjoy the Goodwater Trail, a 26-mile route that takes you around the entire lake perimeter. There are several trailhead access points along the way, in case you only wish to complete part of the distance, and there are restrooms in some sections. Just northwest of Austin is the impressive Longhorn Cavern State Park. Carved out by an ancient river over thousands of years, you can now take guided tours of the cavern, and also explore some of the buildings constructed by the Civilian Construction Corps in the 1930s.
