This smaller town is located in the far northeastern part of Texas, a mere five miles from the border with Arkansas to the east and around 40 miles from Louisiana to the southeast. The nearest larger towns are Shreveport, LA at around 70 miles to the southeast, and the Dallas and Fort Worth, TX metro area, at almost 200 miles to the west.Texarkana RV Park is located on the southwest side of town, just off one of the main local routes, so it shouldn't be hard to find. It wanders, for a couple of miles, through the local Spring Lake Park. Much of the route is shaded by the park's trees, so it makes for a peaceful escape from the hot, Texas sun. As it is within the boundaries of the park, it offers easy access to all the fun activities available at that locale, including game courts, playground equipment for the kids, and exercise stations.The Wright Atman Lake is located just to the southwest of town. It was created when a dam was built on the nearby river. Boating and fishing are popular activities to enjoy on this large body of water. There are also swimming spots, places to enjoy a picnic lunch, and several parks found along its shores. The lake also offers numerous fingers and coves that are perfect places to explore by paddle boat.

Exploring the Area

Book an RV in Bowie County, and you will find there are all sorts of interesting activities available nearby. The Draughon-Moore Ace of Clubs House is a Victorian-style home that was built in the 1880s that is open for tours. The home features artifacts from that time in history. It got its name as it was built to resemble the club suit in a deck of cards. Legend has it that the funds used to build the house were won via a poker game where the Ace of Clubs played an important role. RV camping at this campground makes for a great base camp to explore all around the local region.There are a number of museums in Texarkana. At the Discovery Place Children's Museum, both children (and those who are young at heart) can enjoy the hands-on exhibits and experiments that are available to try. The history of the local area and the people who helped to make it what it is today are showcased throughout the Texarkana Museums System, including the Museum of Regional History. The former presidential candidate Ross Perot was originally from this area. The Perot Leadership Museum features details of his family and life.As the city spans the border between two states, there is a Texarkana, AR as well. One fun activity that can be enjoyed here is the Haunted Texarkana Ghost Walk. This is a guided, walking tour of the downtown area's ghostly past. It is offered at night to increase its spooky appeal.
