The Colony, Texas is a moderately-sized town, located in the northern portion of the state. The town is a suburb of Dallas, situated less than 30 miles north of that city. It is also about 40 miles fromFort Worth. Situated on the shores of Lewisville Lake, The Colony provides easy access to plenty of recreational opportunities.

Museums, sports arenas, breweries and numerous shops are only a few of the activities available locally. A slew of local restaurants also dot the area. The Great Outdoors

When you book an RV in The Colony, you will have access to several unique recreational locales, including the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, located less than 20 miles from The Colony, in nearby Plano. The preserve offers walking, hiking and biking trails, including mountain bike trails. The park is comprised of prairie grassland and woodland areas. Extend your stay and bring a sack lunch, as picnic facilities are also available. This is also a prime area for you to park your RV rental and set out for some birdwatching.

The Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is located on the shores of Lewisville Lake, in nearby Lewisville, TX. Due to its nearness to a major metropolitan area, there are numerous Walmarts located within 35 miles of town and camping may be allowed at these locations. Just check with the manager to get permission. The city also features multiple grocery stores that might meet your needs. Of course you’ll need permission for those as well. There are also gas stations with trailer access and truck stops that provide showers within about 30 miles of The Colony.
