Discover Kaysville

The Great Outdoors

No Kaysville motorhome rental vacation would be complete without a trip to Antelope Island, a site that, in addition to its namesake animal, is home to about 600 bison, along with tons of mule deer, pronghorn, and bighorn sheep. It’s also a waystation for thousands of migratory birds, although not quite as many as the nearby Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve hosts. This preserve provides a great vantage point of Antelope Island across the Farmington Bay. If you take the Kaysville RV rental up there on any given day, you’re liable to find tens of thousands of birds roosting. It’s estimated that between four and six million birds feed and rest at the Great Salt Lake and its wetlands every year, as the area provides a critical stop on the journey between North and South America. Some of the largest wildlife gatherings around the Great Salt Lake have been in the Shorelands Preserve. It has a number of diverse habitats, with saltwater and freshwater marshes along with sloughs, pools, and mudflats.

Another great site to take the Kaysville rental RV is the Adams Canyon Trail, the most popular trail in the whole county. Highly accessible, Adams Canyon has many beautiful views of the valley below. It’s very rocky, blanketed in scrub oak and white pines and punctuated every here and there with waterfalls. The biggest of these is the 40-foot Adams Canyon Waterfall at the top. If you’re looking for some better views of the Great Salt Lake, though, you’ll be better off at Mueller Park Trail, a 13-mile stretch near Bountiful, covered from its base with pine and fir that give way to Gambel oak and bigtooth maple as you make your way up to the summit. In the final stretch, even these fade away, leaving little but stone behind as you approach Elephant Rock. From here, you’ll be able to see all of Mueller Park, Bountiful, the Great Salt Lake, the foothills, and Elephant Island. You also might be able to see some of Kaysville in the distance, though for views of that city you’d be better off braving Francis Peak.

Points of Community Pride

In the city of Kaysville itself, meanwhile, you’ll find a building totally unlike any other in the state at the Utah State University Botanical Center’s Wetland Discovery Point, the only building in all of Utah to be Platinum Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. With solar power, rainwater harvesting, passive solar heating, natural ventilation and more, a step inside Wetland Discovery Point provides a glimpse into how a building of the future is built!

And that’s just one attraction in the USU Botanical Center complex. This area also offers a wide range of educational opportunities for both children and adults, as well as an urban fishery, walking and biking trails, wetland areas, a volunteer-tended garden, and a seasonal farmers’ market. The Botanical Center is also home to the Ogden Botanical Garden, which is split into six different areas featuring plants from different areas of the world.

Other points of local pride include the LeConte Stewart Gallery of Art, which features the work of one of Utah’s most renowned landscape artists, and a number of community parks.

Local Attractions

If you’re coming with kids and looking to get a little more excitement out of your RV rental in Kaysville, be sure to check out the Cherry Hill Amusement Park. It’s an amazing play area, jam-packed with activities and obstacle courses any kid is sure to love. Duke it out over Battlestar Blasters, get lost in a maze, or try your hand at Hamster Haven or Pirate’s Cove!

If you’re looking for a little more of a scare factor, you absolutely must see Kay’s Cross, rumored to be one of the most haunted sites in the entire county. This large stone cross once loomed 20 feet high, with the letter K mysteriously carved in both sides. Back in 1992, though, it was partially blown up some angry townspeople. However, the legends surrounding it live on. Some say that a ghostly woman haunts the cross. Others say the face of a murdered woman haunts it on the anniversary of her death, while others claim it’s guarded by a pack of mysterious “dog men.” Whatever the truth may be, a glimpse at the remains of this blasted cross are sure to be worth the trip.

Parking Your RV

Although you probably won’t be able to find too many places to park the camper rental in Kaysville itself, there are a number of other RV parks throughout Salt Lake Valley. You’ll also find a number of campgrounds in the Wasatch Mountains, though they’re not quite as big or as numerous as you might expect for a range beside an area as populous as Salt Lake Valley. Be sure to individually check with campgrounds before heading out with the Kaysville RV rental by owner, as many sites are simply not large enough to allow for RVs or trailers.

So, what are you waiting for? Plan your Kaysville RV rental retreat today, and strap in for the experience of a lifetime.
