Discover Lynnwood

The Great Outdoors

Lynwood offers a number of hiking trails. For a short and picturesque hike to Puget Sound beach, head over to Meadowdale County Park for a jaunt down the 2.5-mile Lunds Gulch trail. Rambling along beside a cool and shady forest ravine, Lunds Gulch provides fantastic views of Whidbey Island and the Olympic Mountains. It’s lush in local vegetation, and the creek running down the gorge’s canyon teems with salmon and trout. You can also see the stumps of the old cedar trees left behind by the lumberjacks who first cleared this region. The notches are still visible! For a somewhat longer hike, take a gander at Centennial Trail, a 25-mile round trip hike with an elevation gain of 200 feet. Or, for the hiker who enjoys more of a challenge, don’t miss out on the Lime Kiln Trail. Running alongside the narrow canyon of the Stillaguamish River, Lime Kiln has an elevation gain of 600 feet, and also offers something of a guided tour through the history of this area. A railroad once ran alongside the canyon, and you can even still see one of the old lime kilns this trail was named after.

Looking for a break from all the hiking? The Edmonds Underwater Park offers more than 27 acres of tide and bottomlands built specifically for scuba divers! Following fixed guide ropes, this park’s over 25,000 yearly visitors are treated to glimpses of an enormous array of local marine life, which thrives on the local man-made reef structures and historic sunken vessels found throughout this park. You can also explore many of Lynnwood’s local waterways by kayak or canoe. There’s no shortage of available rentals in the area.

If even all this isn’t enough adventure for you, then you certainly don’t want to skip over Lynwood’s famed rock climbs. Right off of Highway 2, for instance, you’ll find Index Town Wall, a 500-foot vertical cliff with some of the greatest climbing challenges in the state. There’s also Exfoliation Dome—the most difficult 4,000-foot peak in all of Washington, with a variety of crack, slab, and aid climbs (depending on which side you decide to take on).

RV Parks

There will be no shortage of parks to settle in once you’ve picked up your rental RV in Lynnwood. If you’re looking for a site closer to the thick of things, consider trying out Westburg RV & Mobile Home Park, a mere four miles from the Alderwood Mall. North Sound RV Park is within city limits as well, and Twin Cedars RV Park will take you to a pleasant, forested area—all still within city limits!

If you’re still looking for more peace and quiet, you might consider Lake Pleasant RV Park. It’s actually a 15-minute drive away from Lynnwood in Bothell, but it’s a gorgeous area featuring thick conifer growth and waterfront views. Other nearby motorhome parks include Lakeside RV Park and Harbour Pointe RV Park up in Everett.

Exploring the City

While you can easily reach downtown Seattle for day trips and excursions, Lynnwood itself also offers a thriving local culture. If you’re planning to rent a motorhome in Lynnwood during the summer months, for instance, odds are good you’ll come across some live music or performances in the city’s many parks. The Lynndale Park Amphitheater, for instance, hosts a number of free outdoor cultural events, and Lynnwood’s other three community theatres are certain to impress.

Lynnwood also offers a number of annual festivals, including the Evergreen State Fair (the largest county fair in the Pacific Northwest), which runs 10 days before Labor Day every year. Other yearly events include the Northwest Folklife Festival and, in nearby Edmonds, the Edmonds Waterfront Festival and A Taste of Edmonds. Farm tourism is also very big in and around Lynnwood, and there are a number of wineries, breweries, and distilleries to explore.

No matter what it is you like best in a city, you are sure to find it with your rental RV in Lynnwood and the surrounding area. It’s the ideal place for outdoorsy folks of all varieties. Don’t miss out on all Lynnwood, WA has to offer!
