The situation: The Damage you are referring to was external and purely cosmetic (caused by the previous renter).  Time did not permit for the repairs; which left us with 2 options.  Cancel your reservation or have it check out by a mechanic to ensure safety and allow you to go on your trip over the Christmas/New year holidays, we chose the latter. Everything was shown to you and we were upfront about it and showed you the work around for the slide which was opening slowly.

My accommodations to your needs: Your scheduled pick up time was 3 pm, I agreed to move it up to 12:30. You showed up at 11:45. Even though you showed up 45 minutes early, we were still able to have the rig ready for you and you left our lot before 12:30. I had to force you to walk through some of the actions during the orientation as you believed yourself to be an experienced RV'er. I now view this as ironic as you told me that you rented an RV a few months prior from the big dealership and had many problems with their brand new model as well.

Your Actions: On your trip you threatened on multiple occasions to abandon the RV several hundred miles from home because the door wouldn’t close and lock.

My Actions to resolve: (By the way this was Christmas Eve at 7 pm and carried over to Christmas day.) My wife and I called dozens of mobile mechanics and repair shops to no avail as they were all closed for the holiday. We did however finally convince a repair shop along your route to stop the work they were doing to fix the entry door. They stopped to help. I paid them. But, they did not fix anything as there was nothing to repair.  All that was needed was to push the door shut and lock it.  For this simple explanation, I paid them for their time because they had to take time away from helping their customers, all of this without mentioning my stress and anxiety over the Christmas holiday trying to resolve a problem that didn't actually exist.

Continuing Problems: Your problems continued with other things that didn’t work or were broken. Upon your return we took the rig to our mechanic at the dealership and there was zero evidence of any of the problems you complained about. However, there did turn out to be damage as the bedroom door was ripped off the tracks and a dime sized whole in the bathroom door; all of which occurred during your trip.

Our Remedy: Before the damage you caused was known to us and prior to us taking our rig to our mechanic, where he did not find any of the issues in which you referred during your trip, we agreed to waive $478 in mileage overage fees.

I am sorry you had a bad experience.  My wife and I are very hospitable people who go above and beyond to help our guests. We did this in your situation and as it turns out, we were trying to fix a problem that didn’t exist. These issues were not visible to me or the mechanic at the dealership. There were no repairs necessary other than the interior damage that you caused.
