Sweetwater Guard Station Campground

The site of the first Fire Guard Station, Sweetwater Guard Station, has three walk in access campsites and an additional eight sites featuring picnic tables, fire rings at each site. Nestled in the Wind River Mountains, this campground located about 73 miles from Rock Springs and 69 miles from Lander. It is ADA accessible and is a non-fee area.


Driving directions to Sweetwater Guard Station Campground

Off State Highway 28, turn north onto County Road 5-13/ Continental Divide Road. Continue for 15 miles and turn east onto BLM Road 4105/Sweetwater Gap Ranch Road for 6 miles. Staying left, travel down BLM Road 4112 for 2.3 miles to the campground loop road.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
