Southern states draw in visitors year-round with their friendly, humbling charm and their warm climates. Book a luxury motorhome rental in Chapel Hill to understand why this town is more than just a popular college destination for young adults. Sitting between three counties, Chapel Hill is best known for the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and its contributions to health care research.

Chapel Hill along with neighboring Durham and Raleigh all make-up what is referred to as the Research Triangle. The nickname is derived from each town housing a major research university. Because of this, you’ll find many health facilities and technological businesses within the triangle that feed off of and help aid the research occurring at the institutes. That isn’t to say academics rule the entire town vibe, but they do play a large role in Chapel Hill’s economy. You’ll just have to consider cruising through here with your RV rental to see everything else that makes Chapel Hill’s position within North Carolina a unique one.

Discover Chapel Hill

The Great Outdoors

Chapel Hill is a great spot to explore some gorgeous scenery. Not surprisingly, UNC-Chapel Hill owns and maintains a conservation garden. The North Carolina Botanical Garden is free to visit and often features events to engage those that step foot inside. Encompassing 1000 acres, the gardens features display gardens as well as a slew of natural areas. Not all are at the same location. The botanical garden technically oversees a few gardens and preservation areas throughout Chapel Hill. You’ll be able to stroll at your leisure while taking in the greenery at several locations.

For those really into flowers, Durham is home to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, which is attached to Duke University. This enchanting place has walkways and bridges lined with all kinds of foliage and flowers. Pick up a map and set off with your camera.

If you’re looking for some hiking while in the area with your Chapel Hill camper rental, check out the recent addition to the Triangle Land Conservancy, the George and Julia Brumley Family Nature Preserve. The 613-acre property has a handful of short trails, some intermingling with each other to create longer trails. Designated trails do allow mountain biking if you’ve brought your bike along.

RV Parks

Even their motto is “stay close and feel far away,” so Spring Hill Park could be a great overnight choice for those who believe location is key. Spring Hill sits a stone’s throw from downtown Chapel Hill but tucked away into the forest. All their camping sites included full hookups, cable, and no WiFi. They do not, however, have washroom or laundry facilities so be sure your travel trailer rental from Chapel Hill has what Spring Hill cannot provide.

Otherwise, you’ll be able to find parks in the surrounding towns including Durham and Mebane. Choose the park that has what you need. The common denominator for the parks is full hookups. Staying overnight in Chapel Hill with your RV rental is really simple.

Exploring the Town

Since you are in Chapel Hill, you might as well check out UNC at Chapel Hill. The campus spans a large portion of the town and is quite attractive. Being that it is a large university, they have several attractions and museum-type offerings for the public to enjoy. And, if you’re a sports fan, definitely check which teams are playing at home and the on-campus Carolina Basketball Museum while you’re in town with your Chapel Hill travel trailer rental.

While you’re at it, meander downtown to see where the Tar Heels hang out. The iconic Chapel Hill Main Street is lined with over 95 cafes, restaurants, and bars, most locally or independently owned (always support local!). If having a nightlife scene is important to you on this trip to Chapel Hill, then you’ve come to the right spot. Best yet, everything is walking distance.

If you have children in tow, Chapel Hill has just the museum for them. The Kidzu Children’s Museum is catered towards the young ones. It is filled with touchable and interactive exhibits to channel their energy into learning skills through play. And, if you’re a kid at heart, we’re sure you’ll be equally entertained.

All in all, Chapel Hill is a very inclusive place with plenty to do and see locally and in the surrounding counties. Next time you’re looking for a southern location, give Chapel Hill the green light.
