The nearest larger town is Bozeman, MT, around 45 miles to the north, while Yellowstone National Park is found around 50 miles to the southeast. Please note, because of the ruggedness of the terrain and the frequent, extreme weather conditions of this area, many roads (even US Highways) may be closed throughout the winter season. You should also be aware that the winter season can last well into May in this part of the country. Please check locally for current road conditions.

The primary draw to this area is for outdoor recreation activities and historical sites. Activities available include hiking, camping, gold panning, fishing, and numerous winter sports during the lengthy, snow-season. The Gallatin National Forest is also located nearby and provides numerous recreational opportunities. Scenic drives over breathtaking, mountain terrain are also available, weather permitting.
