Around an hour’s drive south of Mississippi's state capital, Jackson, is the peaceful town of Brookhaven. Brookhaven sits on what was once Choctaw indigenous tribal territory, and was named for Brookhaven, New York by its founder, Samuel Janye. The first railway into town was built in 1858 and brought with it improved trade access while enabling people to travel from Jackson to New Orleans, Louisiana. When the Civil War arrived, Union troops burned Brookhaven to the ground and even destroyed the train depot.

Brookhaven eventually recovered from the destruction that befell it, and has made a name for itself in southern Mississippi. When you book an RV in Brookhaven, you will be charmed into staying longer than you anticipated, by historic buildings and easy access to some excellent natural beauty. Interstate 55 is the main way of getting in and out of town, and makes it easy for you and your Brookhaven camper rental to explore other cities of the South like nearby New Orleans.
