Burleson is a great place to live or to visit. It’s quite convenient to both Fort Worth and Dallas, yet feels as if it’s a million miles away from either one. Over the years, the town has grown from a whistle-stop on the Katy Railroad to a mid-sized suburb. The home of Kelly Clarkson is a very nice jumping-off point to explore the southern part of the Metroplex. This area is a bit off the radar, but it still has a lot to offer. To experience it all, book an RV in Burleson and see what happens next.

Discover Burleson

Experience the Sites and Scenery

Benbrook Lake is located in, wait for it, Benbrook. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built this reservoir where two main forks of the Trinity River come together. For several decades, Benbrook Lake was exclusively for flood control and commercial navigation. It’s only been open for recreation since the early 1990s. Water sports are very popular on the lake, and the largemouth bass and sunfish are almost always biting. Six different parks ring the lake. They feature facilities like indoor bathrooms, boat docks, picnic areas, and live bait shops.

A short, scenic drive in the Burleson rental RV takes you to Joe Pool Lake, which is near Arlington. If you thought Benbrook Lake was nice, you’ll really like Joe Pool Lake. It, too, is a largely-unspoiled area south of the Metroplex. The brush piles in the lower part of the reservoir are a good place to catch bass. For crappie, try underneath the bridges. The lake also features two marinas, a paved boat ramp, and a swimming area.

One of the best fireworks shows in the Metroplex takes place at Johnson Park in Everman. During the day, it’s a quiet, out-of-the-way park that offers lots of cool, shady areas. Other activities include basketball and tennis courts.

Lake Whitney is not far away either. This huge lake provides flood control for much of Texas and parts of New Mexico. But most visitors do not come to see the Whitney Dam, although it is an impressive site. Instead, most travelers drive their Burleson RV rental to Lake Whitney to take advantage of some legendary recreational opportunities. The Texas Legislature recently designated the area as the Getaway Capital of Texas. Fishing, boating, and jet skiing are all quite popular. There are also hunting areas and a golf course.

City Attractions

Many people prefer the sites and sounds of Ft. Worth. But Burleson is a charming city with lots of fun things to do. The Buffalo Nickels Arcade is a nice place to spend a few hours. All the games run on nickels. Plus, there’s a cool mini-golf course. And, because it’s in Burleson as opposed to a bigger city, it is not crazy crowded. The Twisted Key Escape Room is pretty cool as well. Solve puzzles to escape a twisted asylum, find a murderer, or some of the other things in one of the many rooms. Everyone needs to work together, because the team only has 60 minutes to escape, or else. The Sunset Winery is home to some of the finest and most reasonably-priced wines in Texas. Perhaps best of all, this family-owned facility has a staff that really cares about delivering a first-class guest experience.

What’s Unique

Burleson is among just a handful of in-between towns. It does not have the fast-pace of the Metroplex, yet it’s quite a bit bigger than some of the other towns in the area. Residents get the best of both worlds, and so do visitors. But you cannot soak up this unique atmosphere from a hotel room. Instead, to truly experience this town, you need a motorhome rental in Burleson.

Where to Park It

Most families like the North Texas Jellystone Park. In addition to having spots for your Burleson RV rental, it has luxurious cabins and tent campsites. Three large dance/dining halls are outstanding for things like corporate events or weddings. Kids might enjoy Pirates’ Cove Hall, at least partially because it’s adjacent to Pirates’ Cove Waterpark. Other facilities include a large laundromat, a karaoke stage, and the regionally-famous Kountry Kreamery. For something slightly more adult, park your camper rental in Burleson, TX at the Mockingbird Hill RV Park. The large, pull-through spaces feature grass yards and large shade trees. Plus, the new Hidden Creek Municipal Golf Course and Complex is not far away.

The Food

When you talk about Burleson and food, you usually talk about pork. Some folks like it barbecued over an open fire with just the right amount of sauce. Other folks cannot stay away from carnitas or verde pork street tacos. Texas is also home to one of the original fish tacos. There’s plenty of comfort food here as well, like chicken fried steak. Only non-Texans call it “country fried steak,” so order correctly and avoid deportation.

Your Burleson RV rental vacation is a great way to make memories with friends and loved ones. Get a group together and start exploring this hidden gem of the Lone Star State.
