Burtonsville is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland. It is named after Isaac Burton who bought the land inherited by his siblings, making him the area's major landowner. Burton operated a store at the intersection of Old Columbia Pike road and a road leading to Sandy Spring, which became the center of the growing community. A post office was established in his store in the 1850s, and Burton became the area's first postmaster. Although the area was surveyed and settled as early as 1700, it was only after Burton's 1825 land purchase that the community began to gel. Today, Burtonsville (originally called Burton's) holds an annual festival celebrating its founder, with a parade, games, petting zoos, and other various activities, and small social events all over town. The community continues to center itself around the two original roads, now designated as Maryland Route 198 and US Route 29.

Search for an RV in Montgomery County, and you will have everything you need to set out on your own personal grand adventure. There are a few towns that are interesting and worth exploring. West Friendship is still an open area of farmland and rolling hills due to strict zoning regulations, although residential development has slowly increased. Catonsville is or was home to a large number of celebrities from a variety of occupations, such as actors Kathleen Turner and David Hasselhoff. Hyattsville has a downtown arts community and a vested interest in the arts; it has commissioned numerous public artwork sculptures, murals, and mosaics as a part of this effort. Rockville is one of the major retail hubs in Montgomery County and has several regional upscale shopping centers. Your Burtonsville RV rental can help you gain access to the area's shopping malls, rolling hills, and whatever else you wish to see.

The Great Outdoors

Northwest Branch Stream Valley Park is a semi-developed park with both hard paved and natural trails. Visitors can go horseback riding on the nature trails or rollerblading on the paved trails. Guests who wish to hike or mountain bike can use either. The trails follow the park stream on either side and offer visitors a pristine view of the vegetation, streams, and resident wildlife. It is a good destination for bird viewing and photography; keep your Burtonsville camper rental nearby, and you can use it as the perfect viewing and photography blind, with hot coffee an arm's length away.

Wheaton Regional Park is a cultivated recreational area offering both developed and undisturbed areas for public use. It has paved and natural trails where guests can hike, mountain bike, or go horseback riding; anglers can head to Pine Lake to enjoy fishing from the lakeshore. The park has an amazing playground with slides, climbing structures, and more, and a replica 1863 train providing tours of the park. There is a musical carousel, an award-winning garden, and a sports complex for softball and baseball, basketball, tennis and handball, and year-round ice skating.

Rockburn Branch Park is a popular outdoor destination where visitors can hike through picturesque woodlands, freshwater marshes, and stream valleys. If nature observation isn't your thing, there are picnic pavilions and dedicated sports areas for basketball, tennis, disc golf, and much more.
