If you want to spend some time in the beautiful Midwest, then consider getting an RV rental in Byron, Michigan. This cozy little village can be found in the heart of miles and miles of open fields, but it’s still not far from the busy city life. Flint, the city that once was a major lumbering area, is rather close, and so is the state capital of Lansing. Even the cultural big city of Detroit isn’t hard to reach with your motorhome rental in Byron.

A bit closer to the village, there’s the small city of Fenton, and the cozy city of Durand is also nearby. If you’ve had enough of the crowds and noise of the city, you can always head toward Huron-Manistee National Forests or one of the Great Lakes, such as Lake Huron and Lake Erie. Getting there is a piece of cake, seeing as Interstate 69 and 75 as well as US Route 52 are all just around the corner from your camper rental in Byron.

The Great Outdoors of Byron

It would be a shame to rent an RV in Michigan without visiting at least one of the surrounding lakes, and a great place rather close to your luxury RV rental in Byron for just that is Pinery Provincial Park, across the border in Canada. Here you can hike on trails through the rare and fragile oak savannah and the equally unique freshwater coastal dunes, all while enjoying rich wildlife and the amazing views of Lake Huron.

A bit closer to your RV trailer rental in Byron, you’ll find the beautiful Seven Lakes State Park, packed with fun things to do both on dry land and in the water. Apart from hiking through the rolling hills and forest, you can go boating and swimming in the lake, do some metal detecting, or try to catch a fish or two for dinner. If you’re out of luck, there are plenty of picnic areas to enjoy a packed lunch.

On your way to Detroit, you might want to stop by Indian Springs Metropark, which not only has gorgeous trails running through tall trees and a restored prairie (where you might get a glimpse of a red fox), but it can also offer horseshoe pits, a climbing wall, and an underwater pond viewing room. In the winter, you can go skiing or sledding, and don’t worry, there are lots of scenic picnic areas too.

RV Parks in Byron

There’s no campground within the village, but if you’re prepared to drive about 15 minutes from Byron, you’ve got plenty to choose from! At Walnut Hills Family Campground, you can get water and electric hookups, buy groceries and souvenirs, and there’s a beach by a lake where you can fish and go kayaking.

At Hide Away Park Campground, the hookups are full, and you can watch the sunset over the beautiful lake, which can also be used for boating. Do some fishing, have a little fire, or just enjoy the peace and quiet - it’s completely up to you. If you need to stock up on snacks or gas, you can find both grocery stores and gas stations by your campervan rental in Byron.

Exploring the Village of Byron

As it so happens, there’s not a lot going on in this village (which is why it’s so peaceful), but hop into your motorhome rental from Byron and head to Fenton, where you can have all the fun. A.J. Phillips Fenton Museum and Historical Society is a former library full of vintage clothing, tools and televisions, as well as old photographs and military items from several big wars. It also holds extensive information about the residents in the area - perhaps you have relatives there.

If you book an RV in Byron at the beginning of July, you can’t miss the Freedom Festival in Fenton, when the whole area comes together to enjoy pancake breakfasts, parades, and a rubber duck regatta - if you want more water entertainment, there’s also a ski show at Silver Lake Park. On top of all this, you can see art, taste yummy food, and go on pony rides. How fun!

If you’re not there in July, there are many more things going on in Fenton. There’s the Applefest with bingo and a poker tournament, trick-or-treating on Halloween, and a Jinglefest with a talent show, a Christmas market, and gorgeous ice sculptures. In August, local restaurants let you try their food, and if you like it, you can have some more delicious sushi, juicy steaks, and aromatic Italian dishes.

Are you ready for both an eventful and relaxing vacation in the Midwest? You’d better be because the village of Byron sure is ready for you!
