Campbell, California is a mostly suburban city to the south of the San Francisco Bay Area. Considered a part of Silicon Valley, this bedroom community of neighboring San Jose is known for its bevy of shopping malls, boutiques, and historic sites. Although it was not formally incorporated until 1952, Campbell was alive and well with throngs of settlers who moved west to open sawmills, ranches, farms, or pan for gold during the gold rush. The town is named for Benjamin Campbell who purchased much of the land that makes up much of the historic downtown to this day.

Cupertino, Palo Alto, Santa Clara, and many other towns and cities are reasonably easy to visit when utilizing the wonderful public transit system in and around Campbell, and beyond that Oakland and San Francisco are quite close, too. To the south, some of best natural wonders and beautiful parks dot California's panoramic coastline. When you rent an RV in Campbell, CA, you can (carefully) coast down one of the world's most famous drives along California Highway 1, which winds and dodges its way around treacherous roads that hug the rocky oceanside. There are many other reasons to book an RV in Campbell, but its best to leave some to the imagination.

Outdoor Adventures

California is home to many of the country’s most extraordinary natural wilderness areas, recreation havens, and public parks, and even the city of Campbell itself has a firm dedication to the great outdoors. John D. Morgan Park is an elegant park located in central Campbell, with wide open grassy fields, and shaded playground areas. Three picnic areas are found throughout the park, all three of which are open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Los Gatos Creek Park is possibly the best and biggest park found in town, and should be seen at least once when you book a rental RV in Campbell. Various recreation activities can be found within Los Gatos Creek Park, as well as the lovely nature trail that weaves its way through several towns in the area. The peaceful Los Gatos Creek Trail is ideal for cycling, walking, jogging, or rollerblading.

To the south of the Bay Area, travelers can bring their Campbell RV rental to a variety of different parks and forests, all with unique characteristics and reasons for visiting. Almaden Quicksilver County Park, Sanborn County Park, and Lexington Reservoir County Park are just a few of the fantastic parks operated by Santa Clara County.

Wilder Ranch State Park, Big Basin Redwoods State Park, and The Forest of the Nisene Marks State Park all lie to the south along the coastline and adequately showcase the beauty of California, as well as its incredible trees and magnificent views. Big Basin Redwoods State Park, near Santa Cruz, is dominated by gigantic redwood trees, which visitors can camp between in their Campbell camper rental. Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park might as well be a national park at this point, due to its surging popularity and photogenic views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Oftentimes referred to as “little Yosemite”, this gem of a park is another fabulous place to hike or camp between the towering redwoods in your Campbell motorhome rental.

City Sightseeing

Those who book a rental motorhome near Campbell, are drawn to the lovely Downtown Campbell Farmers Market. The market is held each Sunday, with numerous vendors selling fresh produce, artisan wine and beer, crafts, paintings, and many other cool trinkets for friends and family back home. Santana Row and Pruneyard Shopping Center are two of the local retail areas that are popular with both locals and tourist. You can find nearly anything in these two massive complexes, like movie theaters, tasty cuisine, or clothing outlets.

Another reason to visit Campbell is the array of historical sites located in town. The Ainsley House is now a wedding venue and museum, with docent-led tours and preserved antiques decorating the ornate home. The Ainsley House is open on weekends only. The old Campbell High School and the Heritage Theatre are a few of the other buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Campbell Historical Museum is a fascinating monument to the town’s complex history, with exhibits focusing on the canning industry that boosted the town economically throughout the 20th century. Visitors can gain access to this fantastic little learning institution where touching of artifacts and items is not only allowed, but encouraged.

RV Parks to Visit

While there may not be as many campgrounds and RV parks as there are in other parts of California, there is no need to struggle when searching for a proper place to stay when you rent an RV.

San Jose has a few pleasant RV parks in the downtown area. Garden City RV Park is located in the heart of San Jose and offers a relaxing atmosphere. Coyote Valley RV Park is another place to consider while on vacation in your Campbell luxury motorhome rental, with amenities like the clubhouse entertainment center, RV washing station, in-ground pool, pet park, convenience store, and concierge services.

For a quick, convenient overnight stay, there are a few Walmarts in the area to park the Campbell, CA rental RV while passing through. There are also plenty of rustic and scenic campsites available at the various state parks previously mentioned.
