Cashmere is a small town by the river just outside of Wenatchee, Washington. The area was always home to the Wenatchi indigenous people who now lend their name to both the city as well as the Wenatchee River that flows through Cashmere. When Catholic missionaries first ventured out to Washington in the mid-19th century, they began to settle among the natives to teach them about their religion. There was no real town to speak of, however, until the year 1888 when stores were first opened to accommodate the rising population of ranchers in the vicinity. In 1892, the Great Northern Railroad announced it would lay tracks down through Cashmere, making it an important stop along the line. This, of course, would bring with it prosperity and investment from outsiders.

Up until the 1920s, the town was referred to as Mission in honor of the first missionaries. The name was changed to Cashmere in honor of the divine Kashmir region of Asia because a local judge claimed that there was a striking resemblance between the two places. He was referring to the rolling foothills and massive mountains looming in the distance.

Now you can book an RV in Cashmere and enjoy a storied town full of history, good vibes, and lush landscapes. Cashmere is a gateway to the wilderness areas of central Washington, where the mighty Cascade Mountains clash with evergreen forests and scenic lakes to create an outdoor paradise. Seattle and Tacoma are also within easy reach.

The Great Outdoors

Just about every corner of Washington is teeming with wildlife, rolling hills, and rugged canyons; you name it, Washington has it. Outside of Seattle, most of the state’s tourism is heavily dependent on these incredible natural landscapes, and Cashmere is no exception. Lake Chelan State Park is not very far away and easy to find when you take a trip here with your motorhome rental from Cashmere. Although it is quite small compared to other state parks, it offers breathtaking views of Lake Chelan. Picnicking, hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, and, of course, camping out beside the sparkling waters of the lake are all wonderful ways to relax and kick back.

Bridgeport State Park can be found on the edge of the Columbia River Reservoir north of town, which has some pretty spectacular views of its own. Much like Lake Chelan State Park, there are magnificent lakeshores where you can splash around and swim during hot, dry summer days. Boating, swimming, fishing, and even golf are favorite pastimes at this recreation area, and you can use your Cashmere camper rental to sleep by the water. Keeping with the theme, Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park is a short drive from Cashmere and yet another place to swim in natural bodies of water. Dry Falls is one of the most prominent features in the park, once a large waterfall thousands of years ago; it is said that the waterfall would have been ten times the size of the Niagara Falls. The interpretive center at the park is a great place to learn about the park's complicated geology, and there are several areas where you can hike, swim, boat, go fishing, or golf on site.

Washington is blessed with several of the most beautiful national parks in the entire United States, but Mount Rainier National Park is the one you should focus your attention on when you rent an RV in nearby Cashmere. The park is a three-hour drive away and is worth every minute of drive time. There are over 200,000 acres in the park, with nearly half the acreage consisting of old-growth forests with ancient groves. Mount Rainier is a massive stratovolcano that imposingly looms over all of western and central Washington, commanding the attention of all that see it. You can hike to the summit of this amazing mountain, but it is not for the faint of heart. There are plenty of campgrounds where you can park when you bring your Cashmere RV rental to this national treasure.

RV Parks

When you rent an RV in Cashmere, you will probably need a place to park overnight. There are numerous suitable options within a short drive of the town, so make the most of your trip and stay at one that suits your needs and interests. Icicle River RV Resort has beach frontage along the river, a hot tub, laundry facilities, sleeper cabins, and secluded fishing areas.

Alpine View RV Park & Campground has incredible views of the Cascades, with a distinctly Bavarian village feel to it. The park is just outside of Leavenworth, a town know for resembling an alpine village in Bavaria. There are plenty of tourist attractions in this lovely area, and all the usual amenities.

Leavenworth/Pine Village KOA has a shuttle that can transport guests to and from town, as well as bicycle rentals, a hot tub, a sauna, a snack bar, and an in-ground pool. No matter where you choose to stay, you’ll have a magnificent trip when you rent an RV in Cashmere.

City Attractions

It may come as a surprise to some, but this seemingly sleepy town in Washington is home to quite a few points of interest and attractions. With tons of locally owned restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, and apple cider mills, walking around town has never been so fun. There are even whitewater rafting companies that specialize in taking guests on outdoor excursions.

The main attraction in town is probably the Cashmere Museum and Pioneer Village. This facility is the perfect place to learn about the historical legacies of both the native indigenous people and the settlers who came to inhabit the area more recently. This informative museum has historical buildings, jailhouses, artifacts on display, and lots of indigenous artwork.

The 9/11 Spirit of America Memorial is a somber memorial paying tribute to the acts of terrorism that changed the United States forever. This beautiful monument celebrates the unity shown by the American people in the aftermath of the attacks and is a meaningful memorial to visit in person.

The Ohme Gardens over in Wenatchee are a fun place to spend some time. The gardens were opened in 1929 and feature acres of lush landscapes with flowers, trees, and panoramic views in a tranquil oasis.
