When Chester, Pennsylvania was first founded, the town’s main industry was manufacturing — primarily metal, machinery, textiles, locomotives, and refining oil. Because of these prosperous industries, the riverfront city grew quickly. And because of its ideal location, Chester remains both a populated and industrious suburb of Philadelphia. Less than 10 miles from Philadelphia International Airport, Chester’s location provides easy access to major roadways, has water frontage along the Delaware River, and features a well-developed public transportation system. In other words, if you want to explore the best that Pennsylvania has to offer, you can’t go wrong when you search for an RV in Delaware County.

Also part of the park, the Redwood Community Center hosts various activities throughout the year like senior social dances, weekly exercise classes, country line dancing, and more.

RV Parks

When you rent a motorhome in Chester, you won't find very many RV parks nearby. However, there is a Walmart a short drive away in Eddystone. Walmarts are usually pretty good about allowing RVers to post up in the parking lot for a few nights. However, be sure to contact the store manager beforehand to ask for permission.

You can also consider Campus Park and Ride RV Park. About 10 miles away in Philadelphia, this 11-acre gated and secured RV park is in an ideal location if you want to explore Philly because, from the campground, you can easily access the city’s public transportation services. In addition to ease of access to the city, Campus Park and Ride has several leveled and paved sites. Each site has partial hook-ups with water and 20/30/50 amp electrical service. Since there are no sewer hookups, visitors can access the on-site dump station. There are also restrooms, hot showers, and Wi-Fi.

Another less urban possibility is Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA in Clarksboro, New Jersey. This wooded RV park has several pull-through and back-in sites offering either full or partial hook-ups. A picnic table, fire pit, and 30/50 amp electrical service are available at each site. While at the KOA, visitors can use the seasonal swimming pool, a playground, a dog park, and a private fishing lake.
